Thousands of tonnes of iron will be dumped at sea in an attempt to cut global warming by sucking carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, it has been reported.

The iron will lay vast amounts of phytoplankton, which absorbs CO2 as the grow, The Times reported.

Conserve our scarce resources... Or dump them in the ocean? How much co2 was released in the discovery, mining, refinement, and transport of the iron? Will the plankton really live on in the area once they have consumed the iron? If so, why isn’t it there now? Sounds like a collossal waste to me.

This has already been tried twice. The first time, the results were inconclusive and the second time, they could find no affect.

There will be a new UN International Convention by the Fall which will make these climate geo-engineering tests illegal.
