Thousands of tonnes of iron will be dumped at sea in an attempt to cut global warming by sucking carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, it has been reported.
The iron will lay vast amounts of phytoplankton, which absorbs CO2 as the grow, The Times reported.
...
Proponents say the cost could be met by businesses to offset their carbon emissions, the paper added.

Conserve our scarce resources... Or dump them in the ocean? How much co2 was released in the discovery, mining, refinement, and transport of the iron? Will the plankton really live on in the area once they have consumed the iron? If so, why isn’t it there now? Sounds like a collossal waste to me.

These knuckleheads will likely think they helped the cooling that that the earth is currently in. Actually, since we are in a cooling phase and we have had some big volcanic eruptions, they should be trying to figure out how to heat things up some before we all freeze. Maybe, we should sacrifice a few left-wing idols?

I think this is old wacko science proposed for a long time now. It says planning, is that doing? Times have changed and one wonders if such tripe is still being realistically funded.

There is no Global Warming or CO2 issue. This is pure scare tactics.

But

but
... what happened to that great idea of:
shooting particles up into the sky to block the sun?????????
Won’t other countries love it when we do that????
(I kid you not - they really talked about doing this)

Scientists, however, have admitted that fertilising the ocean with hundreds of tonnes of iron could have a negative impact on marine life because the dying phytoplankton would cause a reduction in oxygen.
Geeeeeee, ya think ?????????????
To: palmer
These idiots invent their own science, pretending to “fix” a non-problem with a non-solution, likely to have more dire consequences than any amount of CO2.
Iron in the sea????
Study that for a moment and see what you’ve wrought!
(yes, that was on purpose.....)

This has already been tried twice. The first time, the results were inconclusive and the second time, they could find no affect.
There will be a new UN International Convention by the Fall which will make these climate geo-engineering tests illegal.
