Vic Rawl Concedes SC-SEN Democratic Primary To Alvin Greene
TPM ^

Posted on 06/18/2010 2:49:24 PM PDT by Chet 99

Former South Carolina judge and ex-state legislator Vic Rawl has officially conceded the Democratic primary for Senate, after he had attempted to contest his upset loss to unemployed veteran Alvin Greene.

Rawl had originally insisted that there were irregularities or errors in vote-counting in his loss to Greene. A more common explanation has been that both candidates were unknown, and Greene's 60% victory owed something to his name having been listed in the first position on the ballot. And last night, the state Democratic Party upheld Greene's win, despite the embarrassment and scandals surrounding his arrest last fall on an obscenity charge.

In his statement, Rawl thanks his supporters, and announced that he will not further contest the result: "We hold our heads high, and know that the friendship of people like you is far more important in life that the outcome of any election."

"We hold our heads high, and know that the friendship of people like you is far more important in life that the outcome of any election."

Heh!

Greene is a better option for he is a step ahead politically.

He's already an ex-con....

As Clint Eastwood would say, that’s mighty white of him to concede.

I’ve heard/read discussion about the placemen of his name as well.

Greene typed up a flyer, then he and his family & friends drove around and put them on doors - there is no photo of him on the flyer. Apparently, this is the way he campaigned.

I don’t know how to post photos, but I found a link to one of his flyers: (first time to this website, just surfed for a photo).

If there was a more glaring example of how racist the Rats are than this example I don’t know what it would be. This Greene fellow is dumb as a box of goose feces and any fool knows that the only reason he won was because he was a los negroes.

Lots of people have made the same comment on FR, but none have given a definitive explanation of how voters knew Greene was black when he had no ads and gave no interviews.

I don't know about "definitive explanations" but I have seen it repeatedly posited here on FR and elsewhere that a typical black South Carolinian looking at the two names "Alvin Greene" and "Vic Rawl" would conclude that the former was much more likely to be black than the latter.

This makes sense to me.

All right, AL! He held his position and the rats caved. Guess they didn’t find any elephant dung after all.

The Dems are saying that Alvin Greene is unqualified, but maybe just maybe, it’s the voter’s of NC that should be held to a higher standard.

I don’t think he’s been convicted of anything. He has been charged with a felony. That does not make him an ex-con. And give the guy some credit. He can’t be as dumb as people say he is. At the very least, he’ll make millions of the book and movie rights.

Gosh, what’s Clayburn going to do?

The bigger question is who's Vic Rawl going to vote for. It doesn't get an funnier than this.

You're right I retract my statement.

He's still just a worthless wannabe politician. ~snort

Believe me, liberal heads are exploding over this. In my evil twin persona on DU, I find that the moonbats are all agog with speculation about Republican plants, and Diebold voting machine fraud.

Even my evil twin persona was trying to calm them all down, they were getting heated up over nothing. But Vic throwing in the towel will further convince them that something evil is going on!

... Republican plants, and Diebold voting machine fraud.

That's why they are called DU Dummies. The voting machines used in SC are manufactured by Election Systems and Software, Inc. (ES&S).

I, for one, am glad this is over. The RATS have nationally disgraced South Carolina. I have friends all over the country calling an emailing to say how stupid SC looks. Thanks RATS.

I guess that 2 to 1 vote margin looked pretty suspicious, and worth a recount — but only until sometime yesterday.

While I haven't seen or heard anyone say that this is how Greene's race was identified by the voters, I did a search in the main Charleston paper and there indeed was a picture of Greene in the May 25th edition.

>>Just imagine how Rawl feels losing to this fellow that can’t create and verbalize a five word sentence. If this isn’t a “throw out the incumbents no matter what” statement, I don’t know what is.>>

You Betcha. I’m thinking of sending his office a few “Green” tea bags. That way he could soothe his sorrow’s during the coming frosty January nights.
