Former South Carolina judge and ex-state legislator Vic Rawl has officially conceded the Democratic primary for Senate, after he had attempted to contest his upset loss to unemployed veteran Alvin Greene.
Rawl had originally insisted that there were irregularities or errors in vote-counting in his loss to Greene. A more common explanation has been that both candidates were unknown, and Greene's 60% victory owed something to his name having been listed in the first position on the ballot. And last night, the state Democratic Party upheld Greene's win, despite the embarrassment and scandals surrounding his arrest last fall on an obscenity charge.
In his statement, Rawl thanks his supporters, and announced that he will not further contest the result: "We hold our heads high, and know that the friendship of people like you is far more important in life that the outcome of any election."

Pass the popcorn.
the voters, and you know who I’m talkin bout, (know what I’m sayin)... thought they were voting for Al Green the singer..hahhah!!! I’m just lovin it. McLovin it.
Gosh, what’s Clayburn going to do?
A rich white lawyer versus an unemployed black veteran in a heavily black state. Duh.
Embarrassment? An obscenity charge is a resume-enhancer for Dims!
This man’s story has not been told.
It’s my hope that his story turns out well.
Rawl is a wuss. Let him challenge the poor black kid. Go for it all. Yeah. He needs to press this issue all the way. Demand answers.
lolol
I wonder now if the SC democrat party will open up their wallets to spend on Greene’s campaign?
I also wonder when pigs will fly.
Thought they were voting for Al Green but against Lou Rawls?
Actually this is the first time I've heard this lame explanation.
Good news. Now Mr. Greene can concentrate on campaigning and debate prep.
Just imagine how Rawl feels losing to this fellow that can’t create and verbalize a five word sentence. If this isn’t a “throw out the incumbents no matter what” statement, I don’t know what is.
Dear Vic ,
If you can’t beat Alvin you’re toast anyway .
For judges or something way at the bottom of the ballot I would buy it. US Senator is pretty important but hey it is democrats in south carolina we are talking about here.
Only an 19% deficit? Isn’t there a Palm Beach County in South Carolina where he could possibly create the votes?
Surely the Liberals would recognize this resume enhancement as one of the prime reasons Greene won?
After all, could his opponent lay claim to anything similar?
That’s been my thought all along. Vic should have used the nickname Lou if he wanted to win.
Dumb and Dumber
Vic Rawl shouldn’t take it too bad. I mean, it’s not like he lost to... oh, let’s say a political opponent who died three weeks before the election, hypothetically speaking.
