This is a good thing. I want to have access to the internet and not have to pay extra to Verizon just because I am a small time user.

Don’t believe the BULLSHIT being spread about Net Neutrality, folks, it is a very positive thing for free expression on the internet.

Don’t be confused by the current actions of the Obamao administration. The government stepping in to control the internet is not about Net Neutrality...these are two different issues which Obamao is trying to confuse the public over and step in with more big government control in the name of keeping it open. Typical lying business as usual from him.

Why doesn't a private company like Verizon have the right to tell the end user what ports they allow or don't thru THEIR network?

Boy you have really swallowed some Kool-aid.

Please have a look-see into the group who is at the forefront of pushing net 'neutrality':

http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=7103

These people actually have the ear (and pen) of the FCC and are working behind the scenes to craft the FCC's 'neutrality' policy. They also advocate for the fairness doctrine and the destruction of capitalism.

Free expression? Quite the opposite. They want government control of ISP operations, so they can control the traffic, and who sees what. Whatever you're reading that lulled you into that false sense of security, you really need to scratch below the surface some more.

And the regulations going by the name of Net Neutrality, as legislated in the Markey Bill is anything but a positive for free expression. Just ask yourself if an internet regulation being promoted by dems, opposed by republicans, opposed by internet providers who actually have a stake in the process, and being supported by just about every left-wing activist group out there is really a positive thing for free expression.

STOP and ask yourself, has there been a problem with free expression on the Internet? No there has not.

Never in world history have a people been able to express themselves as freely as we can right now over the Internet and we all know it. That's why they have to create this bogus, non-existent crisis to stop it.

Next, ask yourself who is behind net neutrality. The Marxist-led group Free Press is behind it. Free Press, in case you don't know is a socialist/Marxist organization whose motto is: "Free Press. Reform media. Transform democracy."

Finally, ask yourself how taking the Internet out of the hands of private business and putting it into the hands of a far-left controlled government would “help” this non-existent problem.

Dude, spit out the Kool Aid. "Net Neutrality" is a direct attack on free speech on the Internet.

Yes - that’s what they say, but the regulation willl go much deeper than merely “cheap” and “available” access to the internet. It will include taxing, regulation, overseeing, deciding what is “fair” so that the party in power gets to tax their enemies and set up their own disinformation sites. This can be a catastrophe in higher costs. It’s just another means of “redistribution”.

Do you seriously believe this administration is interested in free expression on the internet?

Free expression for liberal dems, yes.
For folks like us freepers, hell no.

Just like all those people who wanted *free* healthcare, but didn’t think about the FREEDOMS it would cost them in the long-run, eh? Do you REALLY honestly think it will be *free*? Do you think companies will have an incentive to produce better/more products and services? What about the billions spent developing the infrastructure — do you believe the government has the right to simply TAKE said infrastructure that it doesn’t already own? And, finally, haven’t you paid attention to the numerous bills put forth by the Dems for YEARS? Specifically, the ‘fairness doctrine’. Well, this is the *fairness doctrine* on overdrive!

SO, first off you need to get it out of your head that there is ANYTHING free in this world! NOTHING in life is *free* someone out there paid for it through hard work, and sweat equity at some point. Whether what you are receiving is made *free* by OTHERS’ income taken as tax dollars, or you receive it *free* because the government STOLE it from private companies SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE paid for it. Again, NOTHING in this world is EVER really *free* (or without cost of one sort or another).

Is your receiving free internet access (when if you really wanted it *free* you could go to your local library) really worth the restrictions it will place upon your *internet experience*? I’m guessing you want *free* access to the SAME content, speed and services, and information you currently enjoy through your arrangement with verizon otherwise you wouldn’t pay for it, even if you are a *small-time user*. The thing is a GOVERNMENT CONTROLLED entity providing *free* internet will definitely NOT be uncensored... Again, reacquaint yourself with the *fairness doctrine* if you have ANY remaining false conception of WHY the Democrats want this — it’s NOT to provide a *benefit* it is to GAIN MORE CONTROL at the expense of your freedom of speech and expression — as well as the police and such not having to go to court to get ISPs to turn over information on their clients. THAT is perhaps the most frightening part — basically what will amount to wiretaps 24/7 on EVERYONE...

I honestly can’t understand how you would think this is all bullshit, or even close to being a ‘positive’.

No, this is the far Left using the Net Neutrality movement in the same way that they glommed on to the environmental movement in order to advance the phony global warming agenda that disguised their control freak tendencies. There is no emergency with the Internet, and the courts have aready ruled that this would be the domain of Congress. The fact that the Obama admin is trying an end around on this should raise all kinds of red flags.

Leave the Internet alone, there is no problem here.
