WASHINGTON California Rep. Bob Filner on Monday picked up a court summons to face an assault charge relating to an angry exchange at a Washington, D.C., area airport baggage claim last month.
Filner, a Democrat, was charged with assault after he stormed into a baggage claim office Aug. 19 at Dulles International Airport in Northern Virginia. A United Airlines baggage employee complained that Filner touched her when he pushed aside her arm to get past her. He also did not leave when asked to do so, an airport spokesperson claimed.
Filner was on his way with other lawmakers to Iraq. When he returned from Iraq, he issued a brief statement saying he regretted he incident.

Bob Filner Charged With Assault on Virginia Airport Worker Upon arriving at the airport, Filner voluntarily appeared at the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority Police office to receive his summons, which was issued last month.
Filner had earlier disputed accounts of the incident as "factually incorrect" and said the charges were "ridiculous," but he didn't elaborate on that in his statement.
The female employee, whom United declined to identify, did not require medical attention.
She filed assault and battery charges against Filner in Loudon County, Va. Filner is expected to appear in court in October.

The United employee filed assault and battery charges against Filner. Seems like what Bob Etheridge did was even worse...
Members of Congress routinely acquire a feeling of self-importance and superiority.
That’s a good start.
Next!
And United tried to force the woman to back off on the charges because it didn’t want to offend Congress.
There are a thousand stories airline people could tell you about the rude, arrogant, demanding behavior of Congressman traveling on their planes and demanding priority treatment at the check-in counter.
I say we get ARMIES of well behaved people in suits... with video cameras out there and BARRAGE those RAT congress creeps with “do you support Obama’s agenda?”*
And then press charges when they explode.
* - If that doesn’t work, maybe “Weren’t you at Rush Limbaugh’s wedding?” would. :-P.

I traveled on a plane which carried J.D. Hayworth about 10 years ago. He was taking his young daughter back to D.C. and she was very unhappy. I felt sorry for him. He was chagrined at her behavior, but handled the situation quite well.
Filner is a “red diaper baby”. Looks like he is trying to imitate “KO” Hallinan, the old Communist Party thug who liked to beat his leftist opponents in the face.
There are exceptions.
I was on a Phoenix flight with John McCain about 6 years ago. He was back in econonmy. They offered him a first class upgrade and he declined.
He made no demands and was even nice to passengers that came up to say hello.
Tom Tancredo was always a gentleman.
You can almost always tell them to "check Chicago" when they can't find it at Dulles, and there it is.
I've had this happen several times over the years.
Just remember, United had ROUTE 1 and Dulles is on ROUTE 2 which was pretty much the TWA homeland. United's operations people still work like that, and unusual stuff goes to "the home office" on Route 1.
The lady who thought she was assaulted probably has no idea of how the typical naive United passenger feels when he finds out his luggage is lost and they refused to serve him peanuts on the flight. She should be very careful in the future.
Also, she should IMMEDIATELY put in a call to Chicago to get the guy's luggage back ~ most especially if he's on the way to Europe. Just transfer it to Detroit (Wayne County MI) and they have direct flights to most major airports.

Kinda like those goofy students who “thought” Etheridge was assaulting them, too?
How about a new rule?: constituents should be more careful about not being attacked by Dem congressmen.
Few United employees know they should always check Chicago first to find lost luggage. They should know; I know. They don't.
That's how we do it. Check nothing. Nothing lost.
We have relatives at the other end of our usual trips keep a box of clothing and toiletries for us out in the garage.
Much better than putting up with airline cr*p.
