You can't do things like this. History is history, and you deliberately corrupt any of it, you will eventually corrupt all of it.
Not to mention, it makes him look like a stroke victim, which considering his health in later life is very inappropriate (he came back from stroke to be Prime Minister again.)

. . . and FDR could walk, too. And, oh, yeah, he was faithful to Eleanor.

Disgusting. There’s nothing wrong with a good cigar from time to time.

Lesser known, General Curtis Lemay was a cigar smoker. I saluted him while he was in uniform with the ever present cigar in his mouth, he returned the salute, not bothering to remove the cigar.

How very Soviet of them. Did you ever see a book called “The Commissar Vanishes: The Falsification of Photographs and Art in Stalin’s Russia,” by David King? Too bad we are following in their footsteps.

Unbelievable!
There are some pictures of FDR without his cigarette holder, but very few of Churchill without a cigar in his mouth or hand. The cigars that Churchill smoked were Julietas (now commonly referred to as Churchills), they typically take between 60 and 90 minutes to smoke and he smoked between 15 and 20 each day, so unless he was eating or bathing he ALWAYS had one lit.
The only thing more absurd would be showing Bogart without a cigarette.

Winston sank his arms to his sides and slowly refilled his lungs with air. His mind slid away into the labyrinthine world of doublethink. To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again: and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself. That was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word 'doublethink' involved the use of doublethink. |
