The USC football program will receive a two-year postseason ban, a reduction in scholarships and a forfeiture of wins from at least the 2004 season when the NCAA releases its sanctions on Thursday, a source told ESPN's Shelley Smith.
The Los Angeles Times reported the NCAA sanctions include the loss of more than 20 scholarships.
ESPN The Magazine's Bruce Feldman confirmed the two-year postseason ban and a reduction in scholarships from a second USC source.
USC will respond Thursday to the NCAA's findings following its investigation into possible violations by the Trojans' football and men's basketball programs, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad.

NO word on whether the forfieture of games in 2004 will also cause them to be stripped of their National Championship for that Season.
FIGHT OFF
Not good for USC!
My UConn men’s basketball program has been having problems also.
Lane Kiffin

Ping this over to GOPUSA, he handles college football PINGS.
Ping for the list.
Sorry to hear that. The Big East isn't the Big East without them as a full citizen.

“Guess we now know why Pete Carroll split for the NFL. “
It’s a shame that a coach can screw so many people and escape without paying a penalty. Everybody thought Pete Carroll was such a stand up guy. Yeah, about as stand up as Nick Saban.
This is a lesson to college administrators, police your sports programs, or you may find yourself in this situation.
I'd have to go back through months of FR posts to prove this, but this is exactly what I speculated a while back when the rumors of his departure from USC first surfaced.

“”As for Carroll, he said he was voting for Barack Obama.
“It’s time,” Carroll said. “I’m excited for it, for everybody. Most of all, I’m excited to be represented by him around the world.”””
Who would get the title instead?
I think you’re being terribly naive if you think USC was “screwed” in any way by their former coach. I can almost guarantee you that in every NCAA case like this, the entire school administration — along with many of its alumni — is complicit in whatever wrongdoing brought on the sanctions.
Will someone explain “post season” ban to me?
(Reggie) Bush’s fault.
Hey! I swear I didn't do anything.
Not good for college football. Big loss of TV revenue. Everybody is going to feel it in their pockets.

If that’s the case, then as usual, the kids are the only ones to be hurt. And not even the kids involved in the wrong doing, it’s the current crop that pays. Not every athelete gets the star treatment.
