Israel 'Foils Scuba Dive Attack' 7 June 2010 Israel's navy has shot and killed four Palestinians wearing diving gear off the Gaza coast, officials say.
The Israeli military says it believes those on board were planning a "terrorist attack". Hamas officials in Gaza say four bodies have been recovered and two people are missing.
Israel controls and occupies the sea off the coast of Gaza despite having withdrawn its forces from the territory in 2005.
The country's Haaretz newspaper quoted an Israeli army source as saying the incident took place at about 0430 local time (0130 GMT) and that the boat was heading north to Israel from waters off the Nusseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said there were no Israeli casualties.
The BBC's Jon Donnison, in the West Bank town of Ramallah, says it is not yet clear exactly what has happened.

Interesting no suggestion by the fine journalists at the BBC that any of these groups are “terrorist” groups or even terrorist groups or have been involved in intentionally killing civilians. Nice.

David - Thanks for your support but Israel has never asked anybody or any foreign force to defend them against attacks, time and time again. Israelis will defend themselves but appreciate US assistance in terms of MORAL SUPPORT, weapons systems and know how. The current Commander & Chief seems to be able to field his golf bag and cart and little more let alone a Company of soldiers... and so far he is renigging on the moral support issue as well.
As if the divers might be members of al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades cricket side, as opposed to being militants (without the quotes).
No wonder I hate coyotes, although they look good as a foot rug. Can't say the same here...

Thankfully, it seems that cooler heads has prevailed and now the Red Crescent is sending the aid through Egypt’s newly opened gate.
