Discuss the primary results in Alabama, Mississippi and New Mexico. Link for results:
I’ve been to Rio Arriba. It looks like they’re trapped 100 years in the past. Tierra Amarilla is just sad.
Susana’ up...
He was unopposed in the Rep. primary for NM-1
KRQE has Mullins at 72% with 78% of precincts reporting.
I would think Susana would give a shout out to Sarah. That would really piss them off.
Morris Brooks won the primary outright:

Martha Roby is just barely short of avoiding a runoff.

Over confidence. All the political experts in the state were saying how Sparks didn’t have a shot, how he shot himself in the foot, etc.
I knew based on the rules of Alabama politics that Sparks would likely win and win big and the states black leadership would be the ones who did Davis in. That’s exactly what happened.
Tonight’s big winner in Alabama was the political establishment and the states big interest groups. The tea party exists in Alabama but other than maybe Brooks victory its not clear that they pulled off anything in this state.
Tonights biggest winner was Paul Hubbert. Two of the three leading candidates for governor were those that Hubbert and co were clandestinely backing in an attempt to stop Bradley Byrne. If it turns out to be a James/Bentley runoff then no matter who the next governor of Alabama is Paul Hubbert will still be the true source of power in Alabama come 2011.
I don’t doubt that our dominance of all facets of political life in the state is just around the corner. Still doesn’t mean we’re going to get it handed to us. We’re going to have to fight and claw for it (and whoever had the bright idea of running Kay Ivey should really be slapped, because we now have a Lt. Governor candidate that no one else on the ticket needs to be making appearances with)
Watching the live thread...Martinez is taking it to Denish.
Just announced Lt. Gov race: John Sanchez will be Susana’s running mate.
Wow, just wow. An all Hispanic conservative Republican ticket!
WOO-HOO!
MULLINS CRUSHES Kokesh!
KRQE has Mullins at 72% with 78% of precincts reporting.
I will say this though. Tonights biggest shock is that it looks like George C Wallace Jr.s political career is over. The lost to both Strange in ‘06 and now Boozer have driven this home. Kind of ironic for a man that the father expected to follow in his footsteps of controlling the state.
Here’s a primary I hadn’t noticed:

I think it is more of the MSM trashing the man badly over the years. Republicans (right or wrong) want someone with less baggage.
Awesome and more awesome.
Wallace should never have left the PSC, he could’ve held that seat as long as he wanted it. I hope the GOP at least tries to get rid of the other old Dem name, Folsom Jr.
Your state did GOOD tonight!
That PaulBot Kokesh should get a clue that
his type is not wanted.
Sounds like you all are happy about the prospects. I would be pleased to see NM shed some of it’s blueness (and if I land there I’ll do what I can to help - if nothing else, one more conservative vote)!
Not possible and a waste of money.
PACT makes Kay Ivey unelectable in this state. The only way we could contest Lt. Governor is if Kay Ivey can be kicked off the ballot some way and a new candidate could be put in to replace her and as I’m sure you’re aware, the experience of 1986 makes that a risky move for either party to attempt.
I’m actually shocked that Ivey won without a runoff, especially when she put so little effort into the campaign that all of her governor signs just had “lt.” added on to the side of them.
