Very interesting.
(Excerpt) Read more at bp.com ...
They have three cameras on the BOP now. That makes me nervous.
They have said a few times they were worried that there was damage to the wellhead. With the added pressure of the Cap sitting on the BOP< and the obvious movement of the BOP when the cap was going on; I am sure that they want to make sure there is nothing going on down there.
Thanks. That’s site I was trying to find again.
Rotting dolphin-free.
It looks now like the seal just broke and popped off. I am really hoping I am looking at the wrong thing and that did not happen. Does it look like that from where you are ?
Think of what Happens if you put your hand over the end of a running hose — the water splashes around your hand and looks like it is coming out the side of the hose instead of out of the end.
Basically they just put a big hand over the top of an oil spewing hose.
Is it just the motion of the ROV or is the BOP actually rocking?
Something bad is happening....
Hope it’s not a leak.
On the other hand maybe not. I guess I was looking at the top of the cap.
Motion of the ROV, but the BOP has a definate lean to it, not sure if that was there earlier or not.
Is there a hose, pipe, or something at the top of the newly installed cap?
Yes pipe goes up to the surface to the drilling ship
I’m hitting the sack
you guys keep this thing under control til tomorrow am
thanks for all the interesting comments
What is the leak from the Skandi ROV1 view?
“I wonder how much BP couldve asked to stencil someones logo across the side of #4.”
Seen on the side of Rover #4

I am thinking they have not yet attempted to close the seal...what say y’all.
I think what happened was I was looking at something from the top of the cap and I saw the mud shooting out and I did not realize that it was the top, not that the bottom had blown off yet and was leaking. So perhaps it has not blown off yet, but clearly we can only take wild guesses as to if the leak is problematic yet. And now it does seem to be coming out at a rather scary pace.
I will agree with you - I don’t think they will seal it until they have the pipe connected to the top to the surface.
