Sestak says White House has contacted his brother over job-offer allegation
Washington Post ^ | May 27 2010 | Paul Kane

Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) said Thursday that his brother has spoken with White House officials about the congressman's allegation that he was offered an Obama administration job if he would stay out of a Democratic Senate primary.

Sestak ran in, and won, that primary, defeating the White House's preferred candidate, Sen. Arlen Specter.

He told reporters Thursday that he would not expand upon his prior statements until the White House releases its report on the matter. President Obama said in his news conference that such a report would come "shortly."

Richard Sestak, the congressman's brother, who has served as his top political adviser and campaign lawyer, spoke with administration officials Wednesday, Joe Sestak said.

"They got a hold of my brother on his cell phone, and he spoke to the White House . . . about what's going to occur," said Sestak, who said he expects the White House will release its information Friday. He declined to elaborate on his discussions with Richard.

The Clintons say just enough to stay relevant. It is sad and amusing at the same time.

Okay, so watch them NOT release the statement tomorrow to try to paint Sestak as a liar.

What did Sestak do that made the Navy fire him?

Sestak declined to say whether the alleged job offer was inappropriate and defended Obama’s integrity. “I think the president’s a pretty legitimate, you know, person,” he said

0??? Legitimate? Has integrity? bahahaha!

It may be that he’s getting worried because failure to report such an offer is a crime as well. Since he didn’t say anything about it for 8 mos. investigators may be looking at HIM as well!

He may have announced that folks within the White House contacted his brother to assure the WH that he is NOT going to roll over and be quiet — I would hazard a guess here that the conversation was a fishing expedition on the part of the WH - trying to figure out what Sestak was going to say/do next?

Some are saying they see a potential cover-up. I’m almost seeing the opposite here. They are waiting for the WH report and playing their cards VERY close to the chest. If the WH report does not match what these two KNOW happened, and may indeed have proof of, then they will let it ALL spill out.

I guess only time will tell. I could definitely be wrong...

“He declined to elaborate on his discussions with Richard.”

If the MSM was so smart they would now ask the brother.

"An honest man would have already told the complete truth. A dishonest man plays coy."

I tend to agree. I also remember that Sestak's congressional campaign was, shall we say, under a bit of an ethical cloud. Pennsylvania (and America) lost a good representative when he defeated Curt Weldon. He's a Clinton guy and backed by the likes of Sandy Burgler.

There will be a friday night before 3 day holiday news dump about this tonight to put it behind them. By the time tuesday rolls around, no one will be interested and will have moved on, they hope. My guess is someone will fall on their sword in the WH for having said something that was “not appropriate but did not rise to the level of criminality”. It will not be Rahm, maybe his second in command who will be spirited away to a cosy job somewhere outside the public view, after a trip past Ft Marcy Park just in case he gets a later thought to recant.

This is as big a deal as their firing of the Inspector General who over saw Americorps. The public forgets quickly.

If Sestak ends up “visiting Ft. Marcy Park,” if you get my drift, could Specter still run?

Speaking of Ft. Marcy Park, it’s quite a coincidence that the Presidential-aquaintance body count immediately stopped after Clinton’s presidency ended. Almost 10 years of Bush Jr. and Obama and there hasn’t been a single suspicious death of anyone associated with the President, compared with the multitude of suicides, “heart” problems, “accidents”, murders of people closely connected to the Clintons. As we were told, just a series of unfortunate coincidences.

Look, let’s move on, the rest is politics.”

Joe, you'll have to man up now and tell the truth.

Anyone know about this guy's Navy career ? I read that Arlen Sphincter was alluding that Sestak, a three star admiral, was fired by the Chief of Naval Operations for poor job performance.

Perhaps Obama will spin that Sestak has mental issues. /s

Reading through the thread this AM....Seems like the assumption is the offer was made in private verbally.....Wonder if there is actually an email trail....

Like the man said, to get their lies straight. I guess none of them have a problem with testimony under oath? 30 years in the Navy and Joe is about to lie under oath??? I think he already tramped on his Navy career when he became a Democrat

So here’s what’s bugging me about this, yet I see virtually no discussion of it whatsoever.

If Sestak is telling the truth, then he knows full well that whoever contacted him broke the law...in a big way. Yet, he continues to be mum about it.

What does this tell us about his respect for the rule of law...and what does this tell us about how he will respect the rule of law while serving in the Senate (if elected, God forbid)?

The guy is awful wishy washy for a retired admiral. Buck up man and quit pussyfooting and drop the bomb on the Obama Crime Syndicate.

They tried to buy you off and now you have to let the world know what kind of thugs are running the country.

Somewhere in PA, Toomey is smiling. If we’re lucky, this secures Toomey a seat and takes Obama down. And Specter is spoiled goods.
