Transcript: Sarah Palin on 'FNS'
http://www.foxnews.com ^ | Sunday, May 23, 2010 | Sarah Palin & Chris Wallace

Posted on 05/23/2010 8:12:48 PM PDT by Clyde5445

WALLACE: Let's turn to another subject. Millions of gallons of oil are continuing to spill into the Gulf of Mexico. You, of course, are a big supporter of offshore drilling. You popularized the phrase "drill, baby, drill." Does this disaster give you any pause, Governor?

PALIN: I am a big supporter of domestic extraction of the resources that we are so reliant on, versus relying on foreign sources of energy, relying and beholden upon regimes that can use energy as a weapon and have less stringent environmental standards than we have. I am still a strong supporter of domestic energy supplies being extracted.

Having said that, these oil companies have got to be held accountable when there is any kind of lax and preventative measures to result in a tragedy like we're seeing right now in the gulf.

Alaska has been through that. I've live and worked through that Exxon Valdez oil spill. I know what it takes to hold these oil companies accountable, and we need to see more of that. But we are still reliant on petroleum products and oil and gas.

And I'm a supporter of offshore drilling but also onshore drilling. Maybe this is a lesson, too, for those who oppose safe, domestic supplies being extracted on our shores and on the land, like in ANWR and NPRA, other areas of Alaska. Let us drill there where it is even safer than way offshore.

Onyx, I saw her interview with Chris Wallace on FNS and I have read her recent statements extolling libertarianism and admiring Rand Paul. Her support for libertarianism is sly, but it’s there. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,593404,00.html

Here’s an interesting excerpt: “...When Rand Paul had anticipated that he’d be able to engage in a discussion, he being a libertarian-leaning constitutional conservative,”

That, to me, is a very interesting re-invention of what Rand Paul is. One cannot be libertarian and conservative at the same time. She is being far too clever in that interview.

Remember the game we played as kids, “Follow the Leader?” Whatever the leader does or says, the followers copy. That is what the fans of Palin are doing. They must reinvent their beliefs in order to continue following her.

When she speaks of Rand, she speaks of small gov. and seperates that from his other beliefs.

I am no fan of Rand but Grayson is no prize.
He was a backer of Bill Clinton and has been vocal before the endorsement of his dislike of Palin.

PALIN: Well, I won't speak to each one of Rand Paul's positions because no candidate is going to be the ideal or the perfect candidate in any voter's mind. Rand Paul is not a perfect, always-to-be-agreed- with candidate. Nobody is.

But Rand Paul is a libertarian. He's clear in his libertarian leanings. He asks questions about implications as it applies to our Constitution, our economy, our society when a law is proposed and a law is enacted.

And I think that more of those who serve in the Senate, and Rand we anticipate will be serving in the Senate, should ask questions about the constitutionality of policies that are proposed. I think more questions should be asked as to the impacts. And Rand isn't going to be shy about asking the questions.

Doesn't look like she's being SLY about anything when speaking about Rand Paul being a libertarian.

In case you hadn't seen this: Palin hails 'libertarian streak' in GOP

Here's a quote from her appearance on Hannity's TV show: “Heaven forbid we go the opposite direction of a libertarian and what they believe in!” Sarah Palin Praises Rand Paul As ‘The Change That Is Needed’ On Hannity

Onyx, you misread. I said she was sly about her support for libertarianism, not in pointing out that Paul is libertarian, although as I said she re-invents him as a conservative.

What Sarah Palin has to say doesn’t matter to me, and hasn’t for some time. I am just sad to see what this is doing to our country, how malleable the voters have become in following a leader instead of following principles.

I disagree with support for libertarianism in all its forms. I thought you did.

Trying to define Sarah Palin over her endorsement and support of Rand Paul is as nonsensical as the attempts in the cases of McCain and Fiorina or any other candidate some people might deem contraversial. Sarah makes no apologies for her endorsements. She stands by every one of them. That’s a leader.

Endorsements don’t win elections. Candidates have to win elections. Rand Paul won his and now the LSM is trying to take him out.

Sarah endorses and supports candidates of her choice in races she’s evaluated. She’s campaiging across the nation trying her best to build a conservative Republican majority. I’m not all that fond of Rand Paul, but he’s the Republican nominee and he’s one hell of a lot better than the democrat. He’ll be for smaller government and he’ll give the Marxists in the US Senate hell.

WALLACE: Governor, I want to pick up on the point that you just made, which is that you did, as governor of Alaska, go after oil companies, including B.P. in several cases.”

Sun....

Sounds like Wallace's antenna are up and wants to get invited to a Whitehouse XMas Party in 2013....

You stand with Sarah, no matter what. That's fine.

I stand with Paul Mirengoff of Powerline:

"It isn't shocking that Rand Paul wants to revisit the wisdom of infringing on the right of racists to deny basic services, and the opportunity to earn a decent living, to African-Americans based on their race. There is a type of libertarian who still wants to fight this battle. What's shocking is that the Republican party, on the strength of the Tea party movement, has apparently nominated one of them to run for the United States Senate."

P.S. Rand is not a senator yet... the election will be held this fall.
