American conservative political commentator Pat Buchanan wrote a column titled 'Are liberals anti-WASP' last week, in which he suggested that if Supreme Court justice nominee Elena Kagan is confirmed, there will be a disproportionately large number of Jews on the Supreme Court bench.
In his column for World Net Daily, Buchanan lamented the fact that since 1965, no Democratic president has nominated a black Supreme Court justice, but that "if Kagan is confirmed, Jews, who represent less than 2 percent of the U.S. population, will have 33 percent of the Supreme Court seats."

I attended a Unitarian church a few times with friends, and am well familiar with Reform Jewish congregations. I am sad to report that if I shut my eyes and all that was said in each service was in English, I would be hard-pressed to tell which one I was in.
You're kidding right? Political reasons added Thomas, women and wise Latinas to the court.
Jews are NOT a race; Jews are a tribe. Like Apaches, Bantus, Like you see on “Survivor”, etc. Just because an individual is of a certain tribal background is not sure indication of that individual’s “religion”. Jews have been blessed with a covenant with G-d as his chosen people and been blessed beyond any other. However, that has made those who have has no real struggle into spoiled and rotten brats. Historically, parts of the tribe has always become arrogant and ungrateful, and has gone astray. That why the name Hebrew CHILDREN.
Don’t try to talk sense into those who want to call Buchanan an anti-semite without reading what he actually said and why he said it. It’s much more fun to jump on the haaretZ rant and let haaretz do the thinking for them.
“But still my observation about the make up of the court ignoring Protestants is significant.”
The presidents can pick who they want. It’s not like Jewish, Catholic or Orthodox presidents have been packing the court with their own faiths.
“Not to mention the Court is currently representing about a 3 state region of America, the NE liberal corridor and Two University Law Schools. Most refreshing cross section of American values? NO. Totally biased? Potentially and blatantly yes.”
I think that’s a good point. But as long as they understand the constitution, I wouldn’t care if they all come from the Bronx.
Speaking of the Bronx, holy cow Rivera just gave up a grand slam.

Pat being for America only without special treatment for other countries also makes Pat anti-Formosan, anti-South Koran, anti-England, and anti-world. He is a non-interventionist and others should work out their own salvation without our troops or treasure. To some that's anti-semitic.
The Twins actually might win a game in the Bronx!
I don’t have to discuss anything with you. I don’t even care what religion SC justices have. But for a Catholic to whine about too many Jews on the SC is laughable.
I agree. I was merely quoting what another poster had said. I see Jews as a cultural, ethnic, and religious group. “Race” in the old-fashioned since could apply (as in, “the Anglo-Saxon race,” “the Italian race,” etc.), however, but not the way that it is used today. I think that “tribe” is a reasonable term too, although some might see that as somewhat derogatory (think of Archie Bunker here).
since=sense in my last post
@fenwickBabbitt: Your posts are way too cogent and logical....its easier to just label Pat an “anti-semite” and dismiss his similarly logical article.
Mo and the Twins were both due.

I hear you.

Universalists (every religion reaches to "God" as we understand him), none is special and none is exclusive - all are correct.
Fantastic. Argument by assertion.
With that kind of intellectual firepower, how can anybody refute my notion that law school is where you go when math is too hard for you?
I also love how were are all supposed to be subject to the law — a law we are all apparently too incompetent to understand.
We wouldn’t need as much legal representation if lawyers were not able to claim so much money and power for themselves.
So “We need a Court that looks like America” = okay, no problem, hope and change.
But, “Hey, this court would not look like the demographics of America” = racist.
Now I understand how it works.
Well, Jews are overrepresented in law. So what? Does Buchanan have a problem with the NBA? Far worse imbalance there. Is he actually a conservative and arguing for affirmative action?
Um, Washington DC is 64% black and Hispanic. What you are suggesting is mathematically impossible.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

I think there are too many Pat Buchanans on planet Earth.
