Former first lady Laura Bush has broken with her husband on the premier social issues of his administration and said she backs gay marriage and abortion.
After more than eight years of silence on the controversial issues, Mrs. Bush said in an interview with CNN's Larry KingTuesday, that gay marriage and abortion were points of contention with her husband, former President George W. Bush.
Mrs. Bush in recent weeks has been promoting her memoir "Spoken from the Heart," in which she writes about her life both before and after becoming first lady.
In response to a question about gay marriage, she said, "There are a lot of people who have trouble coming to terms with that because they see marriage as traditionally between a man and a woman. But I also know that, you know, when couples are committed to each other and love each other, that they ought to have, I think, the same sort of rights that everyone has."
Mrs. Bush said she and the ex-president "disagree" on legalizing same-sex marriage.

I remember one day talking to the President of right to life here in Ky and he said one thing people never discuss is saving the life of a woman while not killing the child can be done and is done. It’s the direct intention of killing the child there is a big difference!! But liberals such as Mrs. Bush doesn’t get it as well.

I always thought she was just like a Stepford wife. She dressed the part, played “The good Christian” wife and mother and reached out to the downtrodden with books but without any real (Eunice Kennedy passion), she performed well, just as she was told to do by all the Illuminati around her.

If you can find a single person who joined the Republican party because of Laura Bush, I will stand corrected. Most people know she is apolitical, and was raised in a Democrat family. She is not now, nor has she ever been a poltical standard bearer, nor are her daughters, who are less political than she is.

How many parents would allow any kind of sexual hedonist to babysit their children. Not only homosexuals but wifewappers, fetishists or anything which sets a bad example through sexual deviancy?
I think what you describe is “jamming” by association. Most people are polite and don’t wish to be seen as offensive or intollerant even if the homosexuals are hedonistically repugnant. That is used against us.
In the end the sexual deviants have to be politely shunned and excluded from any contact with children or the educational process. (formal and informal)

What a stupid comparison to Laura Bush.
Yeah, you’re right. Neither of them had half a clue when it came to bedrock Conservatism. It’s every frustrating to watch a person on your side who should instinctively respond appropriately on bedrock issues, address it like a person with no anchor. That’s what constantly drove me crazy about GW.
There’s a lot of frustration in the ranks these days. And those most pained by it, are voicing their anger (if you will) and frustration over it.
It’s just painful to realize what an opportunity we had under Bush, and how that opportunity circled the drain prior to Obama coming on the scene.
Defenders of Bush can’t deal with that reality.
So what? She’s his mate, not his running mate. Plenty of couples disagree on politics.
