I only mentioned Laura Bush - you added the other "first ladies", to whom I wasn't alluding. To a young person, deciding which party to join, it might just be the impetus they need to become a Republican. Laura Bush is pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage, and has two daughters (in their 20s) who probably hold the same views. I can see how that would attract a lot of young people. (Unfortunately.)

I only 'dismiss' them because they aren't valid, IMO.
If you can find a single person who joined the Republican party because of Laura Bush, I will stand corrected. Most people know she is apolitical, and was raised in a Democrat family. She is not now, nor has she ever been a poltical standard bearer, nor are her daughters, who are less political than she is.
