Tea party activists said there were at least 100 convention delegates from one group, the Maine Patriots, as well as an unknown number from another group, Maine Refounders. Support for the new platform was fairly overwhelming, well beyond what could be attributed to the tea party alone. Efforts to table it were stomped, and it passed handily.

Re your #61:
“Snowe and Collins might be forced to run third party if the Tea Party is well organized in Maine...”
They were both at the convention, and Snowe sat right behind us while we cheered for the most Conservative Gubernatorial Candidate running, Paul LePage.
I think that they have been monitoring the political wind directions over the past 8 to 10 months and seem to have been doing their best theatrical impersonation of Republicans of late, for some reason.
Although they have generally followed the party’s lead against most of the Obama atrocities, I fully expect them to vote in favor of confirmation of Obama’s SCOTUS anti-military gay activist communist shill, just like they did for LaRAZA radical leftist Sotomayor.
RE: “Maybe there is hope for California...”
Well ya know... they said it couldn’t be done in Massachusetts either!
Pray a lot. Work like hell. Ya never know!
Here in Maine we’ve been beating our heads against the wall for so long that our brains are all bloody.
What we’ve done is to get involved at the local level; the Town Committees, then the County Committees...
Volunteer for the offices; do the work; go to the meetings and participate; work on the campaigns of good, conservative Candidates... invite lots of friends... Learn, study, build relationships and coalitions. That’s how THEY took over and controlled the party. It isn’t easy, but you’ve got to start at the ground floor and WORK your way up. LOTS of you.
It’s those small town Committees which appoint Delegates to the State Convention, and it’s State Conventions that elect Delegates to the State and National Committees.
It all adds up, and enough of you who are willing to get in the game can put things over the top and make some real differences.
That’s what the Tea Party Patriots here in Maine have been doing. We’ve got a long ways yet to go, but we seem to be at least making progress.
If we are going to take our Country back, we will probably never have a better opportunity than now.
We may never have another chance again.
