Not sure if preferences reflect reality, or the other way around. The lovely and gracious Mrs. SnakeDoctor has more in common with Ms. Mansfield (I always wondered why she got so much better tips than I did for the 6 mos. we both waited tables in college).
Either way ... God Bless America.

Well, if you’d’ve asked to serve tables with mainly women at them, I’m sure you’d’ve done a whole lot better. :D
I go to restaurants and bars often because I rarely cook for myself. I tip 20% for all servers but I tip more than that if I enjoy the server or the server shows me some extra effort. I have my favorite servers in several places and I tip them more because they are pretty, pleasant and take the time to know me.
Breast size isn’t as important to me as overall beauty and pleasantness. Yes, I discriminate. But I still tip 20% for male or unattractive servers so anything I tip extra is for my enjoyment of the experience and that enjoyment is enhanced considerably when I’m served by an attractive and friendly waitress. In a sense, I’m paying a self-imposed pretty waitress tax. And, trust me, in this world of tattoo-spackled fatties with metal dangling from their faces, some friendly chit-chat (not to mention the occasional hug) with an attractive, upbeat young lady is worth the extra money to me.
If a bunch of ugly people don’t like that fact, too bad.
That's a far more complex social interraction and not subject to a straight-forward test.
...and, arguably, already answered by the classic Jimmy Soul R&B record "If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife."
However, most people have been brainwashed from birth that somehow we should dig deeper into our pockets and actually pay the wages of the employees of certain businesses and I doubt if tipping will ever go away.
My son once said that over-tipping was a way of getting strangers to like you. He was 12 at the time. Smart kid.
It was a funny movie quote about tipping. The story is about women with big breasts getting better tips. I edited the profanity. I thought many Freepers would have seen the movie Resevoir Dogs and had a chuckle.
In a thread devoted to pictures of women with big breasts and other humorous sexual innuendo is appropriate to Free Republic, I don’t see how my posting of a movie quote isn’t.
Sorry if people are sensitive to it. If I complained about the pics of scantily-clad big-breasted women would the posts be pulled?
Same here.
I love shapely women, and have the same sort of stimulus-response attraction to them as the next guy, but if a waitress doesn't actually earn a tip from me, she doesn't get one. Period.
Heh... I think you've succeeded in elevating the grin factor.
I was mere seconds away from posting the whole exchange (heavily edited of course) between Mr. Pink and Nice Guy Eddie. Good thing I saw your explanation first.
LOL. Love the new word. However, I didn't like Bone Daddy's when I tried it. I want a pleasant and pretty waitress not jail bait. Just TMI.
Ithaca. Cornell is a university located there.
The funny thing is getting an indignant message on a thread like this. As if this whole exchange is worth the band width it’s using up.
I guess the best humor will always offend some people...
Gosh darn it. This is a serious thread about a real study conducted at an actual Ivy League university. How can you claim it’s not worth the bandwidth. This is science we’re talking about. SCIENCE!
I agree. I once had a girlfriend who had waited tables and she put it this way, "If you tip well, they'll remember you. And if you don't tip well, they'll remember that too. So if it's a place you want to return to, tip well."
Sophia Loren and Jane Mansfield
That's not Jackie O.
