INDIANAPOLIS -- Former Sen. Dan Coats surged back four other Republican Senate hopefuls to clinch the party's nomination Tuesday night.

GOP leaders had high hopes that Coats, a senator for about eight years in the 1990s, would be a shoo-in for the nomination. National Republicans have backed him since he launched his campaign in February, shortly before Democrat Evan Bayh made his surprise announcement that he wouldn't seek a third term.

Ask yourself, who will Coats vote for for Majority Leader? Harry Reid?

If not, he’s a heck of a lot better than his ‘Rat opponent...

Okay. I just checked the ACU archives:

http://www.acuratings.org/

As of Coats’ last year in the Senate, 1998, he had a lifetime ACU rating of 90.
Excuse me, but we could do a lot worse.

Not sure. But if the dems produce a guy with half a brain, they could beat Coats.

BO’s BO?

Maybe this time the GOP could come up with a
headliner candidate who doesn’t stink on ice.

You got that right....conservatives have a nasty habit of forming a circular firing squad. Personally I will take even a RINO over a slimy-liberal socialist democRAT who will rubber stamp Alisnsky disciple president Zero.

Agreed. We knew some of this would happen. The Rats need to go in November.

Obama and the rest of the Rats must be stopped.

Yep, Coats is definitely a country club republican from the McCain wing of the party. His democrat opponent is trying to portray himself as the conservative in the race, and just might be to the right of Coats on 2nd amendment issues. However, I doubt the “conservative democrat” line is going to fly because he voted for Obamacare. Hopefully the 52% that didn't vote for Coats in the primary don't decide to sit it out in 2010 or buy into the conservative democrat line. This is a must win if republicans want any chance of taking the senate in November So, like the Brown candidacy in MA this one where you just have to hold your nose and vote for the RINO.

“He’s a lot better than Lugar, but I voted for Stutzman”

My Dad voted for Stutzman. It was hard for him. He really thought he was the best candidate but Mom’s cousin married a Stutzman and he is a liberal jerk and Dad hates him. It was hard for him to separate the two but he did it. LOL!
