SALT LAKE CITY State officials refused this week to reinstate the license of a Utah County physician who was jailed in 2009 after his conviction on charges that he traded prescription drugs for sexual favors.
Members of the state's Physicians Licensing Board rejected Dr. Max Cannon's second bid to have his medical license reinstated after a hearing earlier this year in which Cannon blamed bipolar disorder for his past conduct.
Cannon had submitted a previous application for reinstatement of his license in February 2008, about 10 days after he was arrested during a hotel sex-sting operation involving a patient.
In a deal with prosecutors, he subsequently pleaded guilty to two third-degree felonies of distribution of a controlled substance and two class B misdemeanors of prostitution. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dropped similar misdemeanor and felony charges, and Cannon was sentenced to 120 days in jail, 36 months' probation and sex-offender specific counseling. He served the jail time and is still on probation and in counseling... SNIP
One former patient testified she had traded sexual favors for prescription drugs, "50, 60, 100 times," while his wife, Kathleen, said his behavior at home had become increasingly erratic and frightening in the years prior to his arrest. She testified his behavior returned to "normal" after about six months of mental health treatment.
In the order dated April 26, rejecting Cannon's appeal, the state Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing noted his misconduct both in Utah and in Montana, where he allegedly had propositioned the mother of a patient for sex at a local hotel in 1994.

The order said Cannon "lacks the requisite character
to qualify for any reinstatement of his licenses (both to practice medicine and to prescribe medications) at this time."

(And that was just from one of the ones he sexploited).
From another article: Cannon has worked as an independent general physician at several Utah Valley hospitals in the past 15 years, including Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Orem, Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, and Mountain View Hospital in Payson. Why was his license reinstatement even considered? What a slimy creep.
Wife Kathleen said his behavior at home was erratic and frightening. No kidding, after screwing his patient 50, 60 and 100 times he was most likely worn out.
You gotta take care of the little woman too Max.
I would think once he made a request a regulatory health care board would be obligated to put it on their agenda as a matter to be considered.
Shocking, simply shocking. I’m totally aghast that a doctor would ever have his license suspended. This has to be such a rare happening.

I’M SHOCKED, SIMPLY SHOCKED THAT ANYTHING LIKE THIS COULD EVER OCCUR. THANK YOU SO MUCH Colofornian FOR SHOWING ME THAT DOCTORS, EVEN THOSE FROM UTAH, AREN’T PERFECT.
I suppose that makes sense.
Dyslexia was already taken...
Wow. You would think that an LDS owned paper would have mentioned all those other creepy doctors.
And it depends upon the circumstances under which his licensure was revoked.
Maybe the Board felt they should make it permanent for the last time.
One can also go blind from too much sex. Blindness also taken?
Stupidity doesn’t count on these threads as we have already seen.
I’m glad to hear he’s not the same Max Cannon of redmeat.com .
You would, but none of them were in Utah. It’s a cover up by the Mormon Church. They are covering up the fact that there are non-Mormon doctors out of the state of Utah who are preforming illegals acts.
What really upsets me is that the anti-Mormon rag in SLC, the SLTrib, is also covering that info also. I’M SHOCKED, SIMPLY SHOCKED I TELL YOU.
There was even a mother and her two sons who were arrested in Palm Bay, Florida, after pot was found in their house and it wasn’t even mentioned one time in the Deseret News or about 10 y/o elemetary child arrested in a Volusia County school.
This is simply overwhelming and nauseating. I’m going to cancel my subscription with the Deseret News. Wait, I don’t even subscribe to it. Silly me.
Yeah! Dr. Max Cannon and “sexual favors!” Bwaaaa!
Uhhh...hey, Urroner...BTW, as an aisde I love to shorten monikers...I call Restornu "Resty" & Ripliancum "Rip" but I can never shorten yours! (Just a word of advice next time you pick a screen name)
...Anyway, this is your "summary description" of a convicted sexual predator & who was a corrupt drug dealer in two states? That he wasn't "perfect"???
I can see ya now @ the editor's desk of the DesNews. Some mass rapist from Utah is captured after a major manhunt; your headline?
"Authorities Unleash Major Manhunt; Capture Man Who's 'Not Perfect'" [I guess that's such a real "find" in Utah that it's the 'worst crime' there, eh?]
Shorten my name to GO for “Great One.” I won’t complain.
Why was this story so important to post? I’m just wondering. I turned to my local newspaper today and saw a couple of articles about people who made this guy look not so bad. These people were really bad, but I didn’t think that they were anything news worthy.
Was it because the doctor is from Utah?
and your point is?
Let's see. This is your third post in defense of this perp?
Do you mean to tell us you go around defending "Doc perps?" (Or more accurately, only those from Utah?) I can't imagine you would defend this dude if he had remained in Montana.
What would a move to Utah do to transform you?
That it seems Urroner singles out perps from Utah for generic, "he's less-than-'perfect', too" descriptions. That which he might describe as a criminal, a perpetrator, etc. he re-assigns them the perfectly harmless, generic tab of less than "perfect."
(He comes across as this perp's personal apologist)
I’m not defending the perv in Utah, it’s just that you are some obsessed with pervs in Utah that you seem to not be able to let it go. Would you have mentioned this story if it was about a perv doctor in Mississippi or in Maine? NO!!!!
Sorry, but it’s not about my obsession, it’s about your preoccupation and hang-up with things from Utah and things Mormonish.
Let’s see, Joseph Smith, Golden Plates, Romney, Glen Beck, Brigham Young, polygamy, popcorn on apricot tree, Relief Society, MIA. Well, how’s your blood pressure? Has the euphoria of hearing some many Mormon terms and names so close together almost overcome you?
Tsk, tsk, tsk Colofornian, once again you seek to create little rabbit trails and fling out buckets of red herrings and you create nearly perfect strawmen to redirect everybody’s attention away from your obsessions and your idee fixe.
