OMAHA, Neb. -- An armed robber was shot and killed in an Omaha business Monday night, police said. Investigators said a customer intervened and fired on the gunman.
The robbery took place at the Walgreens store at 61st Street and Northwest Radial Highway at 8:50 p.m.
Police said two masked individuals walked into the store. One of them was armed with a short shotgun. The gunman pointed the weapon at customers and at the clerk behind the counter.
A man who had a permit to carry a gun saw the robber point the weapon at the clerk and pulled out his handgun and shot the suspect multiple times, police said. The robber stumbled out of the store and collapsed.
The wounded robber was taken to Creighton University Medical Center, where he later died.

I do so love happy endings!
Militant
I wish all criminals had such short careers.
He was probably just about to turn his life around and go back to school and get a job. He just needed more time.
Bravo.
Old occupation: Criminal. New occupation: Worm feeder.
This will probably be the lead story on CNN and MSNBC tonite I am sure.
Another freelance socialist bites the dust.
The only bad news is that the customer had to have a concealed weapon permit. The criminals don’t need them .... and if the customer didn’t have this permit, he would be in a huge pile of trouble.
Dang, and I don’t have sattelite or cable.....
Permanantly rehabilitated
Walgreens will have “no firearms” signs posted soon.
His partner will get it.
The Omaha PD has already stated that he had a CC permit.
I really like this part.
“The robber stumbled out of the store and collapsed”
Ha Ha. They had the supplies in the pharmacy to staunch the bleeding, but apparently nobody remembered to go get some.
I feel sorry for the shooter. Althought it was justified, he can’t have had a good day. Any day you have to shoot someone has to be stressful.
I know, my post was that if the customer had not had that permit; and had reacted in exactly the same way ... he'd be under arrest or under investigation at a minimu.
I fail to see how the CC permit is not an infraction on the 2nd Ammendment.
He had left the store. Anyone who brought him some supplies without paying for them would have been detained as a shoplifter.
