US says FL can't opt out (Of ObamaCare)
Health Florida News ^ | 4/24/10 | Carl Gentry

Only hours after the Florida House and Senate voted to “opt out” of the new federal health law, the top U.S. health official said Thursday night that will not be permitted.

Without mentioning any particular state or going into detail, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said that state and local officials can vent all they want about a so-called “federal takeover” of health care. But they cannot deny their citizens access to its benefits or requirements, she told the Association of Health Care Journalists.

“They may want to opt out, but they don’t get to opt out all of their citizens who want and need health care,” Sebelius said.

Florida has an estimated 4 million uninsured, most of whom will be covered when the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) takes full effect in 2014.

At least 30 states have passed state constitutional amendment legislation similar to that approved by the Florida Legislature, according to theNational Conference of State Legislatures.

Sebelius said the backlash against the ACA has been ginned up by “misinformation,” much of it deliberate. Thus HHS will be setting up an Internet site to answer frequent questions and a toll-free helpline, similar to that operated for Medicare beneficiaries. HHS staff members present at the conference said they hope to have the Internet site up by July 1 and the help desk soon after.

“They may want to opt out, but they don’t get to opt out all of their citizens who want and need health care,” Sebelius said.

...............as federal troops began massing on Florida's border awaiting orders to strike and hunt down Obama Health Care resistors and begin changing Florida's political structure to one more compliant to the wishes of the Fuhrer.

I very much underscore and agree with your last point, but I believe it necessary to point out that slavery violated the spirit of the Constitution, not its letter, and to whatever extent the Declaration determined the moral goals undergirding the Revolution, that did indeed lead men to finally determine that human bondage without due process of law and as a consequence of foul play and misdeed was fundamentally unjust and should never be permitted.

Which all means that slavery was an institution that men of the best will would wok to eliminate. It did not mean that 600,000 Americans had to die in order for that to happen, nor that whole states in the South should be leveled in order to bring a region to heel, because that is exactly what happened in the ‘Civil War’ (scare quotes for obvious reasons: a civil war is between combatants vying for control of the one central government. What we had was a war of conquest by one set of states against another).

I may be wrong about this, but in those days, a child misbehaving in class could have a beating administered to them. Seems it was a general punishment for behavior considered antisocial and intractable.

I could be wrong, of course, but if not, then this perspective might help a bit.

Yes; we “ARE in a huge mess now” — but it would be worse w/o our ladies.

I’ve heard Newt speak. He speaks well. (So does Obama, when his teleprompter is functioning.) Often, he takes the wrong stance on an issue. Didn’t he endorse Scozzafava? Didn’t he jump on the “global warming” bandwangon? Just this week he said the Tea Party movement is “militant”. His RINO ideas are legendary. Didn’t he have an affair during his last marriage? He’s “so ‘90s”. He helped an important movement in the past, but IT’S OVER!

And I’m sick and tired of his everlasting, vomit-inducing TV appearances with his bimbo Calista, especially when they’re proselytising for their denomination. Please! They try to connect their religion with the American Patriots, when the Patriots were primarily Puritans, Baptists, and Congregationalists. Doubt if there was one RC in the bunch; most hated the pope.

You’re right. Sarah made a huge mistake endorsing McCain’s current run for Senate. For that, I’d never support her run for President. Still, she does speak out on other important issues, fearlessly, saying what people need to hear.

I am not a victim, except of people such as yourself. Hugs and kisses!

Lord I pray so, we can win control of the House, and part of the Senate, finish that job in 2012. With REAL conservatives this time, not the RINOS like Snowe, Collins, McCain and Grahamesty. And NO Mitt Romeny’s.

Whole parts of the USA history is totally being eliminated by today’s school boards & teachers.

Spot on. I read a story a while back about a bill that was being floated in Congress that would eliminate teaching publik skool students US History prior to the War of Northern Aggression. Think of growing up with absolutely no knowledge whatsoever of the founding of this nation, the Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers, the tax rebellions, the whiskey rebellion, none of it. We're halfway there already. If the current trend continues in another couple of generations there will be no one left with a fundamental understanding of the concept of Freedom and Liberty, not to mention limited Federal gumbint. Quite obviously this is the Leftists' dream and they've been at it for nearly 60 years. The attempts by the Left to dumb down the population have been well documented in a book called The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America by Charlotte Thompson Iserbyte. She's a former muckty muck at the Department of (re)Education and puts together a very compelling case using DOE documents gained through the FOI Act. I think it's available now on line for free. Read it if you haven't already. It's a real eye opener.....

I’m not pretending to be a Civil War scholar, but I have studied and read about it extensively for many years. Let’s just say that you and I must agree to disagree. All one needs to do is read the memoirs of various Confederate generals and you will clearly see my point. These men fought valiantly against overwhelming odds, and they didn’t do it to preserve the institution of slavery (many senior Confederate leaders and military officers loathed slavery). They fought for their States; they had far more loyalty to their respective States than to a central, Federal government.

They fought and died to protect the rights of those States.

It was a fight that was inevitable.

Seems pretty cut and dry, it was about preserving the Union in Abe’s eye.

We won’t have any other choice, their plans will bankrupt state governments.

When you look at it, this is the silver lining around the black cloud of Obamacare. The states will be forced to reject and repudiate the Democrats' crowning achievement. It won't even be a partisan choice - it will be concrete-facts-of-life fiscal one.

As the ugly realities of Obamacare reveal themselves, and the harsh and unavoidable facts of what its implementation will do to state budgets, to the insurance industry, and to the quality of health care across the country, the true nature and depth of the Democrats' deception and treason will become apparent to everyone.

I confess that I got this info by email and I cut and pasted it to FR.

I’m just upset that the conservative media hasn’t gotten a bull horn and advertised it!

It’s incredible that the details of this bill are still so unknown and that the conservative media hasn’t hammered this home to their listeners/viewers.

we have a big communication problem on the right
we have many talk shows host who do not talk about the homosexual agenda for instance and now this.

During the election I kept asking why is the GOP not going to the area bozo did his community so called work and then make a video of the area and show stats on it about crime.
Then end it with is this the change you want.seeing as obama has not done much on the national scene then we go by where he worked and this is what he has done again is this the change you want for America

Instead we try and win an election being nice with the media when clearly they were photo shopping photos, of Palin and idiot
