Former Florida state Sen. Dan Webster (R), who is known to have been reconsidering his decision not to challenge outspoken Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) this fall, has scheduled a "major political announcement" for Thursday afternoon in the Orlando-based 8th district.
In an e-mail invitation distributed Wednesday, Daniel Webster's wife, Sandy Webster, said the announcement would be about the 8th district seat held by Grayson.
GOP sources said Webster has been making calls to state legislators to say that he's now leaning toward running.

I hope so. Personally, my dog could win that race. Even at the ‘foaming at the mouth’ debate.

Look like DJ was right, Webster has changed his mind. I wish he had started a lot sooner. I have nothing against the candidates who are currently running, but Webster is our best bet.

FMDJâs right most of the time. But underneath that Darth Vader-like veneer he wears, he’s a real softy.

Are there any polls for Grayson? I’m curious what his district thinks.

Seriously, I think it reached the point where Grayson had become so much of a profound embarrassment for the district, from the deranged rants to the execrable public behavior (crashing that GOP function) that Webster was forced to change his mind, since it was perhaps a bit too much to risk a second tier challenger with this seat. Webster’s entry is will be the clearest sign, “That’ll do, Mr. Grayson. You’ve brought quite enough shame to this district. It’s time for a grown-up to represent the people again.”

Webster would be a good choice. Conservate. Popular. Beyond reproach. With a long record and experience.

I hope that the state rep from Ocala drops out now. Webster is a sure winner this November, and will make a terrific Congressman.
