Rasmussen: What They Told Us: Reviewing Last Week’s Key Polls (Rat Disaster Alert)
Rasmussen Reports ^ | April 17, 2010 | Scott Rasmussen

Posted on 04/18/2010 4:10:34 AM PDT by Zakeet

For some people, no means yes.

Thirty-nine percent (39%) of U.S. voters, in fact, think it’s just fine that Republicans in Washington are serving as the Party of No. Democrats have tagged the GOP with the nickname because they won’t go along with President Obama’s agenda.

Seventy-four percent (74%) of voters correctly identify Republicans as the political party some have labeled the Party of No. Despite, or perhaps because of, this high level of awareness, Republicans have built a solid lead [of 9 points] over Democrats on the Generic Congressional Ballot.

Speaking of unhappiness with the president’s agenda, 24% of voters now consider themselves a part of the Tea Party movement. That’s an eight-point increase over the past month, a period in which congressional Democrats most notably passed their national health care plan. Another 10% say they are not a part of the movement but have close friends or family members who are.

The Tea Party movement still defies easy description. But new data from Rasmussen Reports national telephone surveys tells us among other things that 89% disapprove of the way that Obama is handling his job as president. That figure includes 82% who Strongly Disapprove. By a 94%-to-one-percent (1%) margin, those in the Tea Party movement trust the judgment of the American people more than America’s political leaders.

But Tea Party voters aren’t just teed off at Democrats. Ask Florida Governor Charlie Crist whose support in his bid for the U.S. Senate has fallen to its lowest level yet. Arizona Senator John McCain, who less than two years ago was the Republican presidential nominee, is now in a tough struggle just to get his own party’s Senate nomination, again due in part to Tea Party unhappiness with him.

"Twenty-six percent (26%) now favor asking teachers to take furloughs and pay cuts to cut school budget costs, a nine-point increase over the past year."

(head shaking) HELLO 26%. It's not their pay that is the problem. It's the PENSION PLAN.

(doesn't anyone look at their Property Tax Bill?(apparently NOT))

I did not expect anything less than this from the Marxists. They don’t believe in “elections.” One party rule.

“A new Rasmussen Reports nationwide telephone survey finds that Pelosi is now viewed favorably by 43% of U.S. voters, up 14 points”

It would be interesting to see the internals of this polling, such as what percentage of those polled even knew much about Pelosi before a month ago. It’s easy to say you have a favorable opinion if all you’ve seen her do is take a victory lap.

Ok, so, just askin here...WHAT is the “political class” and who makes it up?

From here: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/january_2010/65_now_hold_populist_or_mainstream_views

The questions used to calculate the Index are:

-- Generally speaking, when it comes to important national issues, whose judgment do you trust more - the American people or America’s political leaders?

-- Some people believe that the federal government has become a special interest group that looks out primarily for its own interests. Has the federal government become a special interest group?

-- Do government and big business often work together in ways that hurt consumers and investors?

To create a scale, each response earns a plus 1 for the populist answer, a minus 1 for the political class answer, and a 0 for not sure.

Those who score 2 or higher are considered a populist or part of the Mainstream. Those who score -2 or lower are considered to be aligned with the Political Class. Those who score +1 or -1 are considered leaners in one direction or the other.

Even more than that... We need to start going on the offensive regarding the main stream press. We need to get the producers names, the editors names pay private investigators to gather information and write public blogs of their lives. If they have special constitutional protection than they should have no problem having others report on their personal lives.

Would it be legal for him to run as an independent in the general since he’s running in the Republican primary? Most states have laws against that sort of thing.

Dunno. One would think he doesn’t have any imminent legal deadlines for an independent run if the pundit monkeys are still talking about it.

Exactly. The whole destructive effort depends on defining and pinning down the opposition. When the fellow-travelers in the MSM cannot do their dirty work, their marxist masters are left unfocussed and less effective at destroying freedom.

Care to elaborate? How did he "screw up" his polling? Inquiring minds want to know.

It is not enough merely to oppose the Dems' radical agenda,

How about "DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW!"

That positive enough for you?

Voter fraud is done at the state level.

We all need to get active—sign up for poll watching; canvas; and vote for REPUBLICAN SECRETARIES OF STATE!

Google “Secretary of State Project” a Soros-funded initiative to put Demonrats in control of the voting processes in the various states. Remember Ohio’s authorization of a park bench as a homeless person’s address?

All politics is LOCAL!!

Simple point that must be grasped, understood, and employed if we are to have the degree of success we desire.

Since the Left (Far Left, Ultra Left, Uber Left, or whatever) is now calling the policy shots and setting the agenda, what we, America's Mainstream, are forced to do is present very strong rightward positions on ALL policy initiatives that come forward.

Why?

Because if we posit from the Center, that would be assumed to be the starting negotiating position for us, leading to a much more more leftward leaning end result (”compromise”, they like to call it) that would be unpalatable to us all.

No, they've staked out the Left quite nicely. We grab the Right and, by implication, the Center, and force them to move our way.

We, and the ideas we embrace and espouse, are attracting people as never before, and consequently must demonstrate to them that, despite what they were “taught” in school, Conservative ideas area indeed America's ideals. We have eloquent people who can quite ably withstand the slings and arrows of whatever outrageous fortune the Left hurls our way, of that I have little doubt.

The key to this program's success, of course, is getting rid of the RINOs. By portraying ourselves as principled believers in the Great American Experiment in free market economics and personal liberty, we show forcefully we oppose the enemies of America without distinction to party labels.

In short, WE are the good guys, THEY are the bad guys, and as East is East and West is West, ne'er the twain shall meet.

The final argument is to be, if this nation, and it's progeny that portends it's future, are to succeed and assure multiple generations down the line that they, too, will be free and thrive as no nation before America ever has, it must fully embrace these principles and enact legislation that reflects America rather than destroys it.

Time grows short between now and November 2nd. Let's make the most of it!

CA....
