Israel has delivered a secret warning to Syrian President Bashar Assad that it will respond to missile attacks from Hezbollah, the militant Lebanese-based Islamist group, by launching immediate retaliation against Syria itself.
In a message, sent earlier this month, Israel made it clear that it now regards Hezbollah as a division of the Syrian army and that reprisals against Syria will be fast and devastating.
It follows the discovery by Israeli intelligence that Syria has recently supplied long-range ballistic missiles and advanced anti-aircraft systems to Hezbollah.
“We’ll return Syria to the Stone Age by crippling its power stations, ports, fuel storage and every bit of strategic infrastructure if Hezbollah dare to launch ballistic missiles against us,” said an Israeli minister, who who was speaking off-the-record, last week.
The warning, which was conveyed to Damascus by a third party, was sent to reinforce an earlier signal by Avigdor Lieberman, the Israeli foreign minister. “If a war breaks out the Assad dynasty will lose its power and will cease to reign in Syria,” he said earlier this year.
The Israeli decision to hold Syria directly responsible for Hezbollah’s actions is believed to be the result of intelligence assessments that Beirut has lost control of the Shi’ite organisation, which has become an increasingly powerful force in Lebanon.
Reports that Syria has supplied Hezbollah with Russian-made Scud ballistic missiles have alarmed Israeli ministers. The missiles have the potential to reach the entire country and could carry chemical warheads. New gas masks are being supplied to Israel’s entire population, with an intensive television advertising campaign underway to stress their importance.

Most serious geopolitical analysts believe at some point in time Israel and Hezbollah are going to go at it again. This Israeli warning directed at Syria leads me to believe that if the balloon goes up between Israel and Hezbollah, Syria is going to be involved in the figthing . . . I guess that’s the “so what”

I'm for Israel doing whatever it has to do.
Why is Israel doing this...& doing it publicly as well? Syria will now be able to prepare for what may be a “devestating” retaliatory strike by Israel.
I have my doubts as to how “devestating” the Israelis will be if they strike nack....probably a 6 on a 10 scale (w/ nuclear weapons turning Damascus into a modern-day Hiroshima as a 10), & definitely (IMO), NOT severely enough! When will Israel take the gloves off & KILL THE ENEMY???

Along with Iran requesting that 5 million citizens leave Tehran for an “upcoming earthquake” (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20100411/wl_mideast_afp/iranpopulationquake) and Israel’s massive civil defense drill (http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3876648,00.html) last Thursday.

God will side with Israel. Any who oppose Israel do so at their peril.
From everything I’m seeing and hearing, we may only have a few days to wait, if that.

Isaiah 17:1 says “The oracle concerning Damascus. “Behold, Damascus is about to be removed from being a city, And will become a fallen ruin.” We may just see that prophecy come to pass very soon. I’d watch it if I were Syria.

Israel NEVER reveals their info..if they do something, NO ONE will know til its done..that is why this story is highly suspect..Israel would never disclose any info pertaining to any impending strike
As for Magog, they have an ally in Persia....it's exciting and scary that we may just witness all of this should the Lord tarry a bit more. All in His time, all in His time.
What do you mean by regional war?
Egypt will stay out, Jordan will stay out and crackdown on its Palestinians, Iraq will send troops to the Syrian border to keep their civilians out, Iran isn’t ready for a fight yet and will just shout a lot.
Syria’s problem is that they have one client they can’t control and no friends. Everyone knows where those missiles came from so other then some loud talking (if that) no one is going to help Syria fight Israel.
I WISH that Israel had the courage to nuke Syria (& Iran, too!) but I’m afeared that Bibi is simply too much of a wus to take SERIOUS & final action against his nation’s most bitter enemies.
Those in power in Iran and the pali movement are counting on it. Think how the worlds (ie: UN etc) be able to use that against Israel?
Now they make Israel really look like the monsters all of Islam wishes Israel to be. Reason to launch a major attack against Isreal and/or excuse any attack they (the muzzi dogs will take.
