NOW Lebanon correspondent Amal Shehadeh quoted Wednesday Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot as saying that the Israeli Air Force suspended a plan to attack Lebanon.
The attack was planned over the past few weeks following reports that Syria supplied Hezbollah with Scud missiles, said the daily.
It quoted an unnamed Israeli security official as saying he has concerns that Syria might supply Hezbollah with chemical weapons. He added that arms smuggling into Lebanon from Damascus has increased recently.
According to another report allegedly issued by the Israeli security services, Iran is pushing Hezbollah, Syria or the Hamas Movement to launch rockets toward Israel in an attempt to divert attention away from Tehrans nuclear program.
The Israelis are a cagey bunch . . . hard to know whether the region just narrowly avoided a conflict, or if these "plans" are still on the table so to speak

OBAMA SELLS ARMS TO ARABS, BUT NOT TO ISRAEL

What a Yediot, I would attack those clowns NOW.
Yup, sounds like they are playing head games with the Hezbollah & Syrians.
head games indeed . . . but I think the Syrian transfer of ballistic missiles to Hezbollah may warrant an airstrike IMO. Wouldn’t shock me to see a Syrian convoy go “boom” as it crosses over the Lebanese border
Seems like a planned leak to gauge and detect reaction.
yep, some serious trolling going on. Got the popcorn and beer ready in case anyone lights the fuse.
Hmmm. I’d say maybe some back channel pressure from their supposed allies?
“We are not going to attack” is just the type of story you leak right before you attack. You want their guard down.
“Hmmm. Id say maybe some back channel pressure from their supposed allies?”
I’m sure Obummer is doing everything in his power to keep the “leash” on Bibi. That won’t work forever . . .
Ok. I hope not.
I would consider Syria’s provision of arms to Hezbollah to be an act of war. Those scuds would cause a large loss of life, especially if they put some kind of chemical weapons on them.
Israel can’t ignore them. It’s a direct massive threat.
Hezbollah’s aresenal has not only gotten larger since the end of the 06’ conflict, but also more deadly.
Tensions rose early this year upon reports that Syria was transferring advanced SAM systems to Hezbollah. Now they are transferring SCUDs. What’s next? T-72s and Mig-29s?
That would be a very bad thing...For Syria.
Obama’s response..., “No bunker busters for you!”
I’m surprised he hasn’t brought home the Patriot anti-missile defense systems.
This alone calls Obama’s qualifications to be president into question.
Misdirection? Are they suspending their planned attack on Lebanon because they have a more important mission to take care of first? New moon is tonight.
Hope everyone gassed up this morning (I know I did) before some things over in the ME all of a sudden go all ‘splodey’
If/when Israel gets around to taking care of that “more important mission”, I’ve got a feeling they are also going to have to deal with Hezbollah/Lebanon/Syria . . .
