Polish president dies in air crash

A plane carrying Lech Kaczynski, the Polish president, has crashed near Smolensk airport in western Russia, killing all on board, Russian officials have reported.

Polish officials confirmed on Saturday that Kaczynski was on board the flight with his wife, as well as Slawomir Skrzypek, the president of Poland's central bank, Andrzej Kremer, the deputy foreign minister and the army chief of staff.

The crash occurred about 1.5km from Smolensk airport in foggy conditions.

Poland and Russia reconcile in Katyn

In a ground-breaking move Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk for the first time have jointly commemorated the victims of the Katyn massacre 70 years ago. The event signals a reconciliation from which other countries may learn, writes the European press.

Commemoration brings countries closer

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and his Russian colleague Vladimir Putin’s joint commemoration is a breakthrough in the dispute between the two countries over the events at Katyn, writes Adam Michnik in the liberal daily Gazeta Wyborcza:

“Something significant has happened: the meeting between the prime ministers of Poland and Russia at the cemetery in Katyn puts an end to the ‘lie of Katyn’ that has poisoned Polish-Russian relations for years.

… Like [the first democratic prime minister of Poland] Tadeusz Mazowiecki I value the speech delivered by the Russian prime minister very highly. Vladimir Putin used the words ‘victims of the inhumane crimes of totalitarianism’, ‘of crimes that nothing can justify’. He said that the sole logic behind totalitarianism was to inspire fear and appeal to people’s lowest instincts, … and force them into unconditional obedience. … But today it must be said clearly: Putin’s words inspire hope. The hope for truth and reconciliation.” (Gazeta Wyborcza – Poland | 08/04/2010)

Putin must dare to tell the truth

The presence of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin at the commemoration of the victims of the Katyn massacre may be a fine gesture, but he should have the courage to tell the whole truth, writes the daily Financial Times:

“To many Poles, he fell short by not apologising. He spoke instead of ’shared memory and shame’, pointed to Russian as well as Polish victims of Stalinism, and called for an end to ‘always dividing countries into those who are right and those who are guilty’. That is a barb against Polish russophobia. It is also a bit rich from a leader who encourages nationalist nostalgia for Stalin and tolerates a surge of historical revisionism in Russia, including on Katyn. Yet Mr Putin’s remarks should be welcomed if they signal an openness to finally talk honestly about the Soviet Union’s crimes against its own people – undeniably as great as those suffered by Poles.” (Financial Times – United Kingdom | 08/04/2010)

I’ve just heard on Polish TV, that all the commanders of the Polish Army died in the crash:
- Chief of the Polish Army General Staff.,
- commander of the Land Forces,
- commander of the Navy,
- commander of the Air Force,
- commander of the Special Forces,
- chief of the operational Staff (foreign operation of the Polish Army)

MSM attack on Pope, and this.
Pope started friendly relations with Orthodox Russia, Polish president refused to reckognize Kosovo and went to improove relations with Russia.
NWO killed them all. All anti-globalyst leaders of Poland are murdered.
Only one Pole smiles today. Zbygnew Bzezynsky.

“Polish president dies in Russian plane crash”
Associated Press
Latest Update: 04.10.10, 12:15 / Israel News

SNIPPET: “Poland, a nation of 38 million people, is by far the largest of the 10 formerly communist countries that have joined the European Union in recent years.

Last year, Poland was the only EU nation to avoid recession and posted economic growth of 1.7 percent.

It has become a firm US ally in the region since the fall of communism — a stance that crosses party lines.”

Given how Obama has treated our strongest allies, I highly doubt he’ll offer Poland much help.
