Something like mental autoeroticism.

There are no parallel universes.

There are none in this universe, but there may be some in others.

If a person were to actually be able to travel to the past, and that past had already branched into an infinite number of universes, which universe would the time traveler "from the future" actually "land at"? The "science" of time travel would not only have to have the capability of reversing time to a specific "time", but it would also need the capability of "targeting" a specific universe out of the infinite number which would have been created at the time of "launch" to the past.

I never said it would be easy ;-)

But yes you're correct. There will need to be some way to identify a reality as a specific one if you want targeted time travel. Another interesting thing about this is that it means there is no specific future set for us at this point. It is a future of infinite possibilities. If we traveled to the future, it would only be one possible future.

The theory of flight (aerodynamics) does not require that there is a Creator yet I am sure that you trust them when you fly.

Nice try. I was referring to theories that pertain to creation, such as the parallel universe theory. ...but of course, you knew that.

I see you want to debate and I don't have the time or the interest. I've done that before and, after much typing, wordplay and gotcha' games, no one involved thinks any differently than they did before the debate began, so, no thanks.

I accept the bible as God's revealed truth and Jesus as the Son of God and my Savior. Others can believe what they wish. The truth is in scripture (the Bible) but it's our choice to accept or reject it. I accept it - and no amount of clever word games by those who may think otherwise will change that, although, over the years many have tried (and failed).

That stated, I don't feel a need to justify my beliefs by engaging in futile online debates with folks who just want to play - but I'm sure you'll find some takers if you keep responding to those who you think you can prove wrong/mistaken/misguided/foolish on this 'parallel universe' theory.

Thanks for your responses but I have better ways to spend my time.

That would explain the flash sideways on season 6 of Lost.

There must be, and I am proof. I woke up one morning and a Marxist non citizen of little qualification was the President of the United States. Not in my universe.

It may well be fascinating but I suspect this theory will be challenged by other scientists. I also suspect that the ‘parallel universe’ theory is a handy way to call the biblical account of creation a lie. I’m not buying it.

I don't think one has to do with the other. Imagine that you are the sum of all your actions in every parallel universe. In some you are rich, in some you are poor, in some you die at the age of 2, in some you live to 100. Perhaps God judges you by all your actions, everywhere.

Jesus warned that even thinking impure thoughts is a sin. Perhaps that's because if you consider doing something impure in one universe then in some other universe you actually follow through with it. Therefore to be truly pure you can never even think of such things.

OK that's enough dime store philosophy for one day.

More detail in UCSB press release

(Santa Barbara, Calif.) –– Researchers at UC Santa Barbara have provided the first clear demonstration that the theory of quantum mechanics applies to the mechanical motion of an object large enough to be seen by the naked eye. Their work satisfies a longstanding goal among physicists.

In a paper published in the March 17 issue of the advance online journal Nature, Aaron O'Connell, a doctoral student in physics, and John Martinis and Andrew Cleland, professors of physics, describe the first demonstration of a mechanical resonator that has been cooled to the quantum ground state, the lowest level of vibration allowed by quantum mechanics. With the mechanical resonator as close as possible to being perfectly still, they added a single quantum of energy to the resonator using a quantum bit (qubit) to produce the excitation. The resonator responded precisely as predicted by the theory of quantum mechanics.

"This is an important validation of quantum theory, as well as a significant step forward for nanomechanics research," said Cleland.

The researchers reached the ground state by designing and constructing a microwave-frequency mechanical resonator that operates similarly to –– but at a higher frequency than –– the mechanical resonators found in many cellular telephones. They wired the resonator to an electronic device developed for quantum computation, a superconducting qubit, and cooled the integrated device to temperatures near absolute zero. Using the qubit as a quantum thermometer, the researchers demonstrated that the mechanical resonator contained no extra vibrations. In other words, it had been cooled to its quantum ground state.

The researchers demonstrated that, once cooled, the mechanical resonator followed the laws of quantum mechanics. They were able to create a single phonon, the quantum of mechanical vibration, which is the smallest unit of vibrational energy, and watch as this quantum of energy exchanged between the mechanical resonator and the qubit. While exchanging this energy, the qubit and resonator become "quantum entangled," such that measuring the qubit forces the mechanical resonator to "choose" the vibrational state in which it should remain.

In a related experiment, they placed the mechanical resonator in a quantum superposition, a state in which it simultaneously had zero and one quantum of excitation. This is the energetic equivalent of an object being in two places at the same time. The researchers showed that the resonator again behaved as expected by quantum theory.

If that is the depth of your reasoning, you are in a pathetic state of denial of the Creator.

I agree with the 'pathetic state' part, but denial of the Creator was not implied at all. In this case, it would be denial of the Creators. I didn't deny that one, or many, exist.

How could youyr vast intellect miss the functional possibility that God the Creator created even the parallel universes?

VAST intellect? Maybe 'pathetic' would be more applicable. Regardless, I am trying to be open minded, and just like everyone else, express some humor in the hopes that we humans can laugh at ourselves a little and realize that a 'complete' understanding of God and the Universe is likely way beyond our ability to comprehend (at least for now).

Is it your assumption that sentient beings create their own God?

Absolutely. For example: Human beings on planet Earth. Ever since they were created, they have been inventing their own GOD and GODS, and even after GOD explains it and himself to us, many still make up their own manifestations of God.

Or am I to assume that all beings on Earth worship the same GOD, and follow the teachings of the Bible?

I want to go back to August 4th, 1961. I would grab the birth certificate and run like mad back to the time machine.

In the parallel universe, Democrats are the conservatives and Republicans are still RINOs.

It is a future of infinite possibilities.

Thus, time travel will only be "real" in the world of science fiction. "Infinite" possibilities is infinitely impossible, even for the best scientific minds of the "future". How does anyone or anything wrap it's "mind" around "infinite"? Only a God would be capable of "grasping" or "creating" such scenarios. .

it’s not just when someone dies, it’s any event with more than one possible outcome. For instance: you stand at a street corner. The light changes and you walk across the street, but in another universe you don’t cross the street. Ad infinitum.
