Our cats gave us early warning. Dont know about doggies. My sister has a sulphur crested cockatoo. It was frantically squawking through the quake. Rancho San Diego area.

Nice vid, thanks, I have a feeling the real thing may just happen. Al of these disasters makes one wonder if the end times are near.
To: Brad's Gramma
Yeah, really, a 7.2 and only one fatality...
It’d be nice if that was the extent.

Yes, it was the length of it not just the 7.2 that was unnerving.
Hang in there.

"Wait can I get my cappuccino?" My son said "No Sir, we are evacuating the building." Sounds like a typical San Diego native. The last big ones I experienced in San Diego were Northridge and Landers. One of them dumped all my wife's shoes off the shelf in the closet and on top of me where I was sleeping. It was a mess getting out of bed with all the shoe boxes on to of me and all over the floor. I had to travel to Nebraska that day. It was spooky sitting in the airport waiting around in San Diego as another aftershock hit. I was wondering of all those huge glass windows in the terminal were going to hold up OK.
I was working late at a friend's house in Escondido in 1989 when a sharp vertical jolt dropped a wall mounted bookshelf on the floor. The screws holding the brackets sheared off. Fortunately, we were about 6 feet away when all the books hit the floor.

“USGS changed the depth too. Originally 21 ft. deep, now 6.2 ft. deep.
Im no expert but I know thats not good.....”
Could you explain why shallower quakes are worse?
As I’m reading this thread, I’m realizing how little I understand about anything earthquake related..
To: null and void; Strategerist
Nope. Not EVEN going to try!!! :)

And my 15 yr old Cockatiel gets very upset during the 2.8-3.1 temblors we have here in the Columbia Basin. Were you riding your bike during the quake? Doing stoppies?
