Underemployment Rises to 20.3% in March

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Gallup Daily tracking finds that 20.3% of the U.S. workforce was underemployed in March -- a slight uptick from the relatively flat January and February numbers.

These results are based on March interviews with more than 20,000 adults in the U.S. workforce, aged 18 and older. Gallup classifies respondents as underemployed if they are unemployed or working part-time but wanting full-time work. Gallup employment data are not seasonally adjusted.

A rise in the percentage of part-timers wanting to work full time (from 9.2% to 9.9%) is responsible for the March increase in underemployment. Unemployment saw a slight, but insignificant, decline in March.

Imagine the numbers when the census ends.

Also, if businesses ever do start hiring, all those underemployed and "discouraged" folks (who are not counted today) are going to start looking for work again and appear in the statistics again. Later this year, should be interesting.

We haven’t even gotten our census form.

Of course we’re in TX and in a heavily Republican congressional district, so I’m sure ours is lost in lala land...

The repeat of the 1930s is obvious to anyone who has read Amity Schlaes’ book The Forgotten Man. Whipsawing business with loads of new mandates and every changing regulations is no way to lead the country to economic recovery, as FDR proved by extending what should have been a 3-4 year bad recession into a decade-long Great Depression.

If we let him, Obama will do the same and worse.

Oh, and for those who haven’t read it - The Forgotten Man is the taxpayer, the guy who doesn’t directly benefit from all the government programs, but who does have to pay for them.

“Those with the capital to employ are afraid to invest because of the shenanigans going on in the White House. The per employee cost to an employer is going up, but nobody knows how high. Employing additional people is too risky given the meglamaniac in the White House.”

obaMAO has overseen a massive sapping and looting of American wealth.

It’s a crying shame.

“Does anybody really fill out the census forms? I put mine in the recycle bin. Now was that the green thing to do?”

LOL...

“It’s not just no hiring. Some professions have been destroyed with more to come as a direct result of this administration.

To the true 17-20% who are out of work, the number tomorrow (which will be spun as positive) is just going to make the unemployed and underemployed even more bitter.”
++++++++++++++

Think about those idiots that rushed down into that park in Chicago when they announced that obaMAO had ‘won’ (bought, snookered) the presidency. Suppose they’re still drooling and getting tingly over ‘the one?’
