America's Quiet Anger
American Spectator ^ | 3-30-10 | James P. Gannon

Posted on 03/30/2010 4:30:17 AM PDT by kingattax

There is a quiet anger boiling in America.

It is the anger of millions of hard-working citizens who pay their bills, send in their income taxes, maintain their homes and repay their mortgage loans -- and see their government reward those who do not.

It is the anger of small town and Middle American folks who have never been to Manhattan, who put their savings in a community bank and borrow from a local credit union, who watch Washington lawmakers and presidents of both parties hand billions in taxpayer bailouts to the reckless Wall Street titans who brought down the economy in 2008.

It is the fury of the voiceless, the powerless, the ordinary nobodies of Flyover Country who are ridiculed, preached to, satirized and insulted by the Celebrity Loudmouths of the two Left Coasts, the Jon Stewarts and Keith Olbermanns, the Paul Krugmans and their ilk.

That is my worry too but I hope and believe that they are not that strong yet. If they keep assuming that they have more power than they actually do, we will retake the front line in November. But I see that as our last chance. We have the next 6 months to work as hard as we can to bring some semblance of sanity back. If we do not win overwhelmingly THIS YEAR, then I fear we will have truly seen our best days behind us.

I always maintained that the crash was intentional. I’d like to see the trading records of Soros’ holdings for that timeframe.

They underestimate the anger of those paying attention.

They haven’t taken any polls recently that ask on a scale of 1 to 10, how pissed off are you at your government?

Our response I hope?
Unprecedented turnout at the ballot box, polling station watchers, demanding paper trails for all election offices.

When the unemployment rate began rising, I expected to see an increase in crime rate. When that didn’t happen, I realized that the people out of work were people like us. We don’t rob banks or burglarize homes or mug people in alleys for a few bucks. We sit home and worry and see where else we can cut back on expenses, how we can earn a few extra dollars.

I always maintained that the crash was intentional.

It very obviously was manipulated to cause a crisis. I have zero faith in the integrity of the DJI, and I disregard current news reports that it is "closing in on 11,000".

In my mind, what has happened is that the operatives who withdrew the $500B have been gradually putting it back to give the market a rise under the obamanation rule.

Mr. Gannon writes about middle Americans:

"They are not reaching for guns or for pitchforks. They are holding their anger within, waiting for their time, watching those in power over-reach and over-indulge."

"Their wound is deep, and it will not be salved by more presidential speeches, Congressional hand-outs, or promises of wonderful things to come. They no longer believe any of that. Their quiet rage abides, waiting till it can be expressed in that silent place behind the curtain where the ballot lists the names that they have now committed to an angry memory."

If that dosen't work, we can always fall back on plan "B"

It appears this thread requires my standard, "don't worry, it will all work out in the end" comment.

You see, it all comes down to money. It doesn't matter if you're an individual, a family, an association, a state or a nation. You cannot spend more than you earn.

You can do it for awhile, but it only forestalls the inevitable. The USA is going to default. Savor that for a moment; what does it mean?

It means the USA simply will not have the capacity and/or capability of supporting its various commitments, including both welfare & warfare obligations. So it won't.

When the facade is lifted, control will return to the states. The federal laws may exist, but there won't be any enforcement mechanism remaining. That includes all the 'bad' TLA federal agencies so may get worked up about. No money, no forces.

Now, this doesn't mean everything is going to be hunky dory. No, it just means we substitute real, everyday civil crime & violence for implied, omnipresent federal tyranny. Which do you prefer?

Well, it doesn't matter, since we're gonna get the CW version regardless of anyone's particular desires.

The fedgov isn’t just going to dry up and blow away. They are the nation’s biggest employer by far (paid from tax $) and have the most guns by far. They also have millions and millions of dependent ‘rat voters counting on them for myriad forms of welfare. They will not fade away without reforming the problem into a civil war if need be.

I've always thought the USSR ending seemed the most logical. It ends not with a bang, but with a whimper.

Like any relationship gone bad, the USA and its most ardent supporters - conservatives - are now caught in a terrible cycle. One ratchets up control, while the other retreats, vowing to withhold its favors.

It doesn't require something as dramatic as tax evasion. Oh, the increased taxes will be paid, but something has been extinguished, and that something is spirit. Gone is the spirit of 'getting ahead'; it has been replaced with the cold reality that hard-working folks have been played as the dupes & patsies that they are.

Once the dupes & patsies realize they ARE dupes & patsies, the relationship begins its terminal decline. That's why the most effective forces against federal tyranny are NOT the various Tea Party rallies and other political efforts.

No, the most potent forces are the 10s (100s) of millions of Americans all quietly seething, vowing to no longer actively support the machine past bare minimum requirements.

That's why bean-counters such as myself watch the numbers. We've gone way past any sort of sustainable support from the tax base. As the Laffer curve predicted, every add'l tax increase just accelerates the decline in overall tax receipts.

So the USA borrows & prints. But it's already at the terminal stage of this strategy. The entire premise of the last 12-18 mos has been to create an illusion to lure the dupes & patsies back into the game. But they've retreated to quietly sulk.

And therein lies the truth of the tale: the USA is going to default. It doesn't matter if it is the biggest employer and has the most guns. It doesn't have what is most required, and that is wealth.
