Sarah Palin's family used to "hustle" across the Canadian border to get healthcare, the former Alaska Governor said this weekend.
In a speech in Calgary, Palin called it "ironic" that while growing up in a small Alaskan town near the Canadian border, her family used to sneak across to take advantage of the Canadian healthcare system.
"We used to hustle over the border for health care we received in Canada," she said, according to Medicine Hat News (via Dave Weigel.) "And I think now, isn't that ironic."
It's ironic, of course, because Palin and other Republicans have argued that Democratic healthcare reform will put the U.S. on the path towards Canada's "socialized" healthcare system.
Maybe. I haven't been at the computer all day, but I haven't seen anything else on this anywhere in the news. If the leftysphere picks up on this and puts the big spin on it, then she'll have to roll up her sleeves and counter punch.
We'll see.
It seems Palin is a news event!
Ain't that a fact. Since her 2008 acceptance speech, she's been one of the biggest media targets on earth.
It must piss the other news networks that Fox has exclusive “rights” to Palin.
This and other Palin “scandals” of last week really reveal more about the MSM than Palin. The fact that they rely on liberal blogs to get data on Palin and not fact check them shows wht they’re all about.
I'm late to this story, are there actually people on this thread who feel for it without checking all the facts. They should be embarrassed.
We are on the same wavelength there. I was getting ready to state the same thing essentially. It was a matter of necessity because of location and not quality driven. *sigh* Yet another ‘taken out of context’ blog, article, whatever....
I would’ve done the same in those circumstances. (By the time we had children, it was standard in U.S. hospitals for husbands to be in the delivery room.) Besides, back in 1971, Canadian healthcare wasn’t the monster it has become today.
