Obamacare worth the price to Democrats (GOP Will Not Repeal It)
http://www.ocregister.com ^ | March 5, 2010 | Mark Steyn

Why is he doing this? Why let "health" "care" "reform" stagger on like the rotting husk in a low-grade creature feature who refuses to stay dead no matter how many stakes you pound through his chest?

Because it's worth it. Big time. I've been saying in this space for two years that the governmentalization of health care is the fastest way to a permanent left-of-center political culture. It redefines the relationship between the citizen and the state in fundamental ways that make limited government all but impossible. In most of the rest of the Western world, there are still nominally "conservative" parties, and they even win elections occasionally, but not to any great effect (Let's not forget that Jacques Chirac was, in French terms, a "conservative").

You are right about that.Definite anger against both parties, and its all about America versus government.Americans do NOT like their government, and have lttle or no respect for it.

No we would repeal it with a simple majority just like they are trying to pass it. This is why what the RATS are doing is so damn dangerous. There are real reasons for the filibuster rule but the RATS could care less. They are the party of treason in my opinion.

Democrats are betting that their “democratic” people will love this “health care” when implemented and will forever reward their benefactors. They will reward them even without the “health care,” which is care of no sort.

Sadly, you are so right. Even Everett McKinley Dirksen went out of his way to accommodate his friend Lyndon B. Johnson.

Thus far in 2010, the returns from IL and TX are mostly just status quo. Several conservatives were rejected in both states’ primaries. People want these big government programs if they think they will benefit them.

The only way the dims can pass health care is via reconciliation. We can unpass it via reconciliation. Yeah PFL BO will veto it. But remember the health care taxes and mendacity kicks in immediately. There is no care or help for anyone in this thing. And there is BO knocking down the American people with taxes and arrogance over and over again. A child could win this game.

Not enough, but becoming informed as much as I can. Studying not only the Constitution but “Why” it was written the way that it is. Lot's of reading. Also went to several Tea Parties and Town Hall meetings. Enough, no, but not nothing.

Let's just say that I am sick and tired of being told what is going to happen, by whom and when.

This is not America and his American will not just pat someone on the back like a good ol’ boy when he says something I don't agree with.

This is a new game with a lot of old players. These old players will either play the new game or 'WE THE PEOPLE' will find ones that will.

I have not forgotten that the ‘Government’ is supposed to govern ‘by’ people and ‘for’ the people. Not themselves or special interest groups.

I hope I answered your question sincerely enough, for I sure am sincere

Steyn knows because he knows how the pubbies have behaved for 80 years. They whine about the entitlement program but never eliminate the program.

That is the sorry situation. Steyn doesn’t hope it will happen he is just calling out what will happen of this bill is passed.

I will go one step further, if this bill is passed within 8 years the private health ins system will be destroyed and we will have single payer.

The pubbies won’t stop it. The pols change the bureaucracies stay.

“This is not politics as usual”

?!?!

That’s exactly what he is saying.

More is at stake here with the future of the country than in any election in a generation.

“I agree, It’s a pipe dream to think that a republican congress can or would undo the mess that Obama is pushing on us. Republicans are not by definition, “conservative”, though some conservatives are republicans.”

All the more reason to STOP IT NOW.

“We can unpass it ...”

... IF we have a massive Tsunamai election that defeats the Democrats on the most massive scale in 100 years.

THAT is how we turn it around.

DEFEAT ALL DEMOCRATS.

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

“And you really think that the party of ‘Communist-lite’ ideology is really going to do anything about this? Yeah, in your dreams!”

You’re quite right, which is why we need to throw the commie-lite RINOs out and elect small government conservatives. It will take at least three election cycles to gain a conservative majority, unless God thunders down lightning on our enemies. The new governor of Virginia is off to a good start reining in the socialists. Need more like him. See you at the barricades.
