Pelosi: (Despite The Public Against It) Lawmakers Should Sacrifice Jobs for Health Care
fox news ^ | 2/28/2010 | AP

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urged her colleagues to back a major overhaul of U.S. health care even if it threatens their political careers, a call to arms that underscores the issue's massive role in this election year.

Lawmakers sometimes must enact policies that, even if unpopular at the moment, will help the public, Pelosi said in an interview being broadcast Sunday the ABC News program "This Week." "We're not here just to self-perpetuate our service in Congress," she said. "We're here to do the job for the American people."

It took courage for Congress to pass Social Security and Medicare, which eventually became highly popular, she said, "and many of the same forces that were at work decades ago are at work again against this bill."

It's unclear whether Pelosi's remarks will embolden or chill dozens of moderate House Democrats who face withering criticisms of the health care proposal in visits with constituents and in national polls. Republican lawmaker unanimously oppose the health care proposals, and many GOP strategists believe voters will turn against Democrats in the November elections.

You could almost believe this was satire, except for the fact that Pelosi is really this crazy. I guess she doesn’t much care if she’s speaker anymore, either. Of course, she WILL have to give up that freaking airplane she loves so much.

Transformation by Andy McCarthy. Absolute must-read on the Dems willingness to throw their Congressional majorities away over this.

"Today's Democrats are controlled by the radical Left, and it is more important to them to execute the permanent transformation of American society than it is to win the upcoming election cycles."

A politician patting herself on her back for the courage to pander. Pretty much sums up why this country is in hock.

Nancy, you are insane.

You implied and I quote: “urged her colleagues to back a major overhaul of U.S. health care even if it threatens their political careers.......” she said. “We’re here to do the job for the American people.”

Nut Job. How can you be doing the job of the American people if the American people do not want it.

Ahhh, because we are all to stupid right. Checkmate. You lose

If Miz Pelosi wants to “do the job for the American people,” then why doesn’t she LISTEN to the American people and give up on this so-called health care reform? Poll after poll after poll indicates that most people don’t want this monstrosity.

What a major pile of horse dooey that statement was!

There is ONE reason ALL 435 reps are up for re-election every 2 years, and that is to ensure the consent of the governed. Nasti is a usurper, and by twisting arms of others to go against the will of the people, she is a treasonous conspirator as well.

All the GOP has to do is watch the Rats push it through then come around election time debates just ask the Rats, “why haven’t rates gone down?”.
The 85% insured Americans will demand lower cost immediately.

“Asked at her weekly press conference today if the Senate can use the reconciliation process to fix the bill to the House’s liking, she said, “What you call a complicated process is called a simple majority.” She firmly rejected the GOP call to “start over, itsy-bitsy spider, little teeny tiny… you can’t do it. Doing this incrementally just doesn’t work.”

I think common GREED will keep a lot of the dems from giving up their jobs (and power) just to make Obama look good, and satisfy the salivating ultra liberals.

Democrats are not known for being willing to make sacrifices.

Passing a pay and benefits cut on the millions of federal workers would be unpopular too, but would help the deficit. Throw that one in too, Nancy.

Pelosi sez Lawmakers Should Sacrifice (their) Jobs for Health Care, and taxpayers should sacrifice their own healthcare coverage by donating a portion of it to others.

Michelle Obama sez, “The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.”

B-rack Obama sez “ “My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody. If you’ve got a plumbing business, you’re gonna be better off if you’re gonna be better off if you’ve got a whole bunch of customers who can afford to hire you, and right now everybody’s so pinched that business is bad for everybody and I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

And he just knows he should be in charge of the spreader.

"We're here to do the job for the American people."

What a POS this excuse-for-a-woman is.

Should read "We're here to do a job on the American people".

This was one of the talking points that Rahm worked up in the wake of the hostile August town hall meetings to try and stiffen up the Rats' resolve. I see that he and Pelosi are still trying to push it...
