Glenn Beck tonight: "I contend that most people are libertarian"
02/26/2010

Posted on 02/26/2010 2:51:42 PM PST by Brugmansian

Beck just said he thinks "I contend that most Americans are libertarians because they want that freedom . . ."

So why don't they vote that way Glenn? Why do we have abortion laws? Why aren't drugs legal? Why do voters reject gay marriage? Why do we have laws regulating banks? Why has every proposal to privatize Social Security much less abolish it been rejected? Why do we have "entangling" foreign relationships? Why do we have trade and immigration laws?

>> Beck just said he thinks “I contend that most Americans are libertarians because they want that freedom . . .”

No doubt a response to the criticism related to the “Republicans suck” theme.

It’s important to take Beck in context.

I went to link on Glenn’s page.

I couldn’t finish the test, because the answers were NOT close enough to my own thinking to choose the “closest” one.

Not going to fall into a stupid test trap.

You’re assuming that all Perot voters would have voted for Bush.

Well....we certainly no that he’s laughing now. Osama wanted us to invade and drain us dry in a futile nation building operation. A better solution was to invoke Marque and Reprisal.

Quod erat demonstrandum. It is a theme too. Look at the third reply on this thread. "Simpleltons" (sic) was the charge. After that it was "moron" and so on. Very left-wingish charges. Everyone is "stoopid" who dares disagree. For those who believe "reason" is the end all be all of existence, libertarians get very, very emotional.

Let's not forget real RKBA, real free markets, real private property rights, real free speech, real religious freedom, and real personal responsibility.

Of course, if you NEED government there to keep you from doing naughty things...

So you agree with McCain wanting to regulate vitamins like prescription drugs?

Exactly who is the "tard" again?

That is what I said earlier, GB massages the test and his comments to direct people right into his thinking.

There are huge numbers of people out there who don’t have a clue about politics, history and are being sucked in to his crap.

Beck’s biggest enemy is Teddy Roosevelt.
and Republicans in general.

Are you another one of those who didn't bother watching the speech? Glenn said it wasn't enough to Republicans to "suck less" than Democrats.

He's right. RINO's are the reason the GOP is floundering.

He does annoy me at times - but me MAKES PEOPLE THINK.

And when they think, they stop voting for socialists and progressives.

Nothing. That's just it. So why are some Republicans passing idiotic laws like vitamin control?

If you are that kind of "Republican", then you are the one folks like Glenn has been saying is the fly in the Republican ointment.

If not, you might wanna shut your pie hole and open your ears a little wider. You just might learn something...

There is a big difference between “Big L” libertarians, who are mostly drug-addled kooks who don’t like taxes or war, and “small l” libertarians, who are mostly Reagan conservatives but perhaps a little less focused on the social aspect than many are.

However, MANY “small l” libertarians are pro-life.

I am something of a “small l” libertarian myself - the social issues are important, but fiscal issues take precedence. Example, if the government is socially liberal, I can still more or less live a socially conservative life, but if the government is fiscally liberal, I can’t choose not to pay high taxes. One could argue that extreme social liberalism may outlaw religion, private schools, etc., and that’s a valid argument, but it’s still harder to live a fiscally conservative life in a fiscally liberal society than to do so socially except when dealing with extremes.

I have a libertarian lean, but I still think Ron Paul is clueless on foreign policy (and some other things) and would be disastrous.

People grow. Maybe Glenn finally had his "come to God" moment. Hitting rock bottom will do that to you.

You can't deny the fact that he's having a positive effect for conservatism.
