Rep. Ron Paul facing unrest at home

WASHINGTON — In D.C. political circles, Texas Rep. Ron Paul is the quirky icon of libertarian conservatism, a cult figure on American college campuses with a national following large enough to help him capture the presidential poll at the nation's pre-eminent conservative action conference last weekend.

But while Paul basks in the applause of conservatives at a Washington hotel, he can't afford to ignore the three self-described conservatives who are assailing his conservative credentials back at home.

“He's as bad as the rest of them,” says Gerald Wall, one of three Republicans challenging the incumbent in the March 2 GOP primary.

Paul, 74, charges Wall, is a “career politician” who ignores the wishes of voters back home, a conservative poseur who doesn't walk the walk when it comes to pork-barrel spending.

“when it comes to pork-barrel spending.”

You mean like that 500 million you wanted for wild shrimp studies last year, Mr. Paul? HMMMMMMMM?

Nobody can pack a bill with pork and then vote against it knowing it will pass anyway better than Paul!

Good. Send Ron Paul packing, and destroy the influence which his acolytes are hoping to have on the Tea Parties.

I hate to say it, folks, but in addition to taking the GOP back for conservatism, we may just have to take the Tea Parties back for conservatism, as well.

I saw that RP won the CPAC straw poll for president in 2012. I was really freaked out by that. I though CPAC was for normal people.

It is paramount he be defeated along with his son. We’ve already beaten Medina, so now we have two more to go.

His “win” crippled the credibility of CPAC, to say the least.

Anyone who qualifies as a "cult figure" with college students is automatically moved to the "nut" category among adults.

Ron Paul is Ross Perot, on stilts.

While a glimmer of common sense seeps through in some of his rhetoric, he doesn't seem to be "all there" on an everyday, common sense sort of basis. He comes across as an eccentric nut, actually.

This also could be another instance of the leftwing, obambpress trying to pick "our" candidate for us, again...as they did with McCain't.

If we pick our qualified candidate, and show up in big numbers, obama is out; if they pick another loser for us, and half the conservatives stay home...as with last time...then we get obama for four more (maybe longer, maybe life)years.

The shortest book in the world is "Libertarians qualified to be President", and the libertarian vote totals in the last few elections should show what an ice cube's chance in hell he has.

Most college students still have a lot of growing up to do, and their vision of the world and politics will change once they start raising families and paying taxes...so to listen to 18-21 year olds is ludicrous.

When you’re not looking, Paul picks his nose and eats it. LOL

He is certifiably nuts.

It used to be. The Libertarians are very busy trying to take over any high-profile conservative initiative and if there's one thing Libertarians are good at, it is swarming and spamming.

I'd like to see the conservatives take CPAC back from the Libertarians.

They are also infiltrating Tea Party events and claiming the whole movement was their idea.

Their intent is to get as many PaulCult members into high-profile offices as they can. We must be vigilant and try to thwart them at every turn.

A radio ad for Paul claims he started the Tea Party movement.

Possible misdirection.

"T" party, maybe.. as in "T" for truther.

He's a nut.

"Nobody can pack a bill with pork and then vote against it knowing it will pass anyway better than Paul! "

Not at all to be construed as a defense or endorsement of Paul IN ANY WAY, but besides Jeff Flake and Tom Coburn, there really isn't a single principled politician on the subject of earmarks. They all do it, some just more brazenly than others.
