Meet kinder, gentler Glenn Beck: New 'global warming' believer
WorldNetDaily ^ | 2/23/10 | MediaMatters

While polls show more people drifting away from acceptance of "global warming," the newest superstar among conservatives – Glenn Beck – is embracing it.

"You'd be an idiot not to notice the temperature change," he says.

He also thinks it could be caused partly by man's activity.

At home, he's going green by using energy-saving products.

"I'm willing to do anything but use the CFLs," he says of compact fluorescent light bulbs. "I put them in once and couldn't stand the way they lit up the room."

The kinder, gentler, greener and warmer side of Beck, known as a firebrand conservative, came to light in an interview in USA Weekend.

Beck also has lots of friends on the other side of the political spectrum, he reveals. He calls George Clooney "a good, honest man." Beck says the two of them had an extended conversation about the genocide in Darfur.

"We came to an immediate, completely wholehearted agreement about the situation," Beck says. "That is, to put aside the politics and give troops what they need to protect people over there. He's a good, honest man who believes passionately about doing something about it."

Beck's personal publicist, Matt Hiltzik, is a Democratic power player who helped get Hillary Rodham Clinton elected to the U.S. Senate, says the magazine report.

Then keep your eyes closed like they have been so far, and above all, don't get any more mature, and you'll do fine!

I'm 68, retired military (O-6) with 32 years sea duty and have done things of which you could only daydream about.

You're the one accepting hear-say as fact without verifying...let's see how that system works out for you.

And you just, my friend, made my point.

No, I didn't make your point.

You inferred the GB stole his story line from Geller, that was a false accusation.

Does Pamela Geller cite every source she obtained those video's from, no she did not.

Your Pamela is guilty of the same things you accuse Glenn of.

I also gather you didn't accept my point of eating our own in front of noobs who might be here looking for some guidance only to be turned off by our petty criticisms of any given spokesman for our side.

Hell, we're not even debating the the merits of an issue but in stead we're focused on the messenger.

So be it, I think it's a big mistake and it does nothing to further the Conservative cause.

"...There are dumazzes all over the place. Their calling card is usually an overblown sense of the importance of their opinion..."

That's your opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.

He did deny it on his show yesterday. I don’t listen often but was in the car and tuned him in.

I look at the interviews as being the same. Both were used by the MSM to distort the truth.

He does attack Republicans too much and doesn’t give conservative Republicans any slack. I’m not that crazy about Beck but he is very good bringing information out that the MSM won’t cover. I just get a little frustrated with his delivery. It is a little over the top for me. I usually watch snippets that people put up on the web.

People are entitled to their opinions about Beck, I simply get frustrated with attacking someone for things they didn’t say. (generalized statement not directed at you)

Your post is unclear. - You quote my post, then respond to some unrelated and disorganized propositions from out of a vacuum.

I repeat, to an intelligent, and observing person, the article was in no way “debunked.” When a person makes a plain statement, regardless of whether he may have made conflicting statements at other times, he must offer substantial explanation. He has not.

If you go back to her website, she not only shows her original source, you’ll find that the source responds in the Comments section to people questioning him.

She named the exact school where the documents came from. GB didn’t. GB just presented the documents in a generic way.
The parent of the involved student has his real name on the website. GB never mentioned him or the kid, for that matter.

P. Geller cited the names, and produced the documents they sent her; and then they consented to respond on her site. GB did none of these; he simply grabbed P. Geller’s documents off her site and presented the information as his own.

The reason we focus on the messenger, is that if the messenger is a fraud....perhaps so is the message.

And I think we concervatives should be concerned about tying ourselves to a fraud. Because he’ll take us down, too. He’s got NOTHING to lose.

Understood, and no offense taken.

Like you, I too find him a bit too gruff and like Savage I catch a glimpse and a statement now and then but prefer the man himself for my political fix, Rush Limbaugh.

"I think it's a big mistake and it does nothing to further the Conservative cause."

Unwarranted conjunction. IMO, Beck is not attempting to 'further' the conservative cause; he is attempting to ride it like a wave, while winking to his other constituency.

Will we see more boiled frogs on his show?

Sideshow Glenn ...he would have made a fortune on the carnival circuit 50 years ago.

Like the characters played by Bob Hope and Bing Crosby in “Road to Mandalay”.

Sounds like the rose colored glasses are falling off Rinos who don’t want to see their time is up. And from Birthers whoa re into Theories.

Beck has done great work against Global Warming. It is sad the infighting, but it is happening.

The debunking touted here reminds me much more of the little song sung by the sheriff in "Best Little Whore House in Texas."

You mena "The Road to Singapore" I believe.

The title of "The Road to Singapore" was changed from "the Road to Mandalay" as it was felt to be in conflict with an evergreen popular song, that could possibly cause confusion among potential viewers.(info via The Internet Movie database.)

Of course you could have meant Lon Chaney's classic horror flick by the same name, “The Road to Mandalay”. After all we are living through a real life horror show today in America.

He's serving another constituency by exposing them?

Oh yeah, you're relly on to something there.

Yes—that’s it. Bob and Bing were carnival guys who tried every trick in the book at the carnival in Brooklyn (Coney Island) until they ended up burning down the place and going on the lam on a steamer.

I saw it recently on TCM. Amazing how they could be so funny with never a bad word or a vulgar reference!
