I will be a pain to have to dig this thing off the bottom of the Gulf so it doesn’t interfere with commercial shipping traffic.

14,000 metric tons? That's half again as much displacement as a
Ticonderoga-class cruiser, if true. I'll bet the article slipped a zero somewhere and they're actually 1,400 tons.

surface-to-air missiles with a top speed of up to 30 knotsMan, those are some sloooow missiles!

14,000 tons BS... Maybe 1,500. Nothing but a little patrol craft. Or a target.

Is it me, or is that an OTO-Melara 76mm?!?
Did they boost it off of some other ship, reverse-engineer their own domestically-produced variant, or manage to sneak it in past the various embargos?
To: sukhoi-30mki
Oh crap... they forgot to install the bilge pump...
To: sukhoi-30mki
There is no way that dingy displaces 14,000 tonnes.

The rest of the ships that follow will all have glass bottoms so they can see this one.

On the first deployment, they’ll run it aground. Not much naval expertise in the Koran.

Pfft.
So they stuck a gun turret on a tug boat.
Big deal.

A) We know exactly where it is, down to the square meters.
B) It would not exist within the hour if we wanted it not to exist.

Hmmm. Fourteen thousand tons is not a “destroyer.” Its a cruiser.
Of course, most of our recent “destroyers” have been cruisers, too...
I guess they’re building USN-style destroyers.

You have hand it to the Iranians for being ecologically conscious to provide this contribution to the future Persian Gulf Artificial Reef Program (PGARP).
