U.S. Sen. John McCain has picked up the endorsement of former actor and Sen. Fred Thompson while opponent J.D. Hayworth gets ready for an event with Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas and State Sen. Russell Pearce.
Hayworth and McCain, seeking a fifth term, are battling in the Republican Senate primary this year.
Thompson a former senator from Tennessee and actor on the Law & Order television show announced his endorsement Wednesday. McCain and Thompson both ran for president in 2008.
Im for John McCain. I hope he gets re-elected. Ill help him get re-elected if I can. Its more important for me, and I believe for the country, to have McCains leadership and the respect that he brings to bear on an issue. When he takes the floor on a national security matter. When he takes the floor and leads the intellectual effort the for the surge. When, without his efforts, I dont think we would have ever had a surge and therefore we would never have had a victory in Iraq, Thompson said.
Hayworth, Thomas and Pearce will appear together Feb. 24 in Tempe. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio also backs Hayworth over long-time foe McCain.

I made a note of your screen name and if I can find one or I get a newsletter, I'll let you know.
I wonder if he'll announce his endorsement in the newsletter, which sometimes asks for donations for this and that. I doubt it, but we'll see

They have this traveling road show. O'Reilly is Bud Abbot and Beck is Lou Costello.
Instead of patent medicines, they shill their books.

I used to be on his email list. I just canceled it with a note why. F mccain the traitor.

FREDDIE DALTON THOMPSON, MAN OF MANY ROLES, VOTED TO DISCARD THE CONTRACT WITH AMERICA, WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN GETTING MCCAIN/FEINGOLD PASSED, IS SOFT ON AMNESTY FOR ILLEGALS, AND HAS A PENCHANT FOR MCCQUEEG ONGOING, NO TRUE CONSERVATIVE COULD SUPPORT SUCH A GUY, IMHO.
“Name one sitting politician who has endorsed Hayworth.
I saw some county GOP chair that was standing behind Hayworth the other day, in a pic...but probly not publicly elected...and youre probably looking for some national presence...:)”
SCOTT BROWN.
JD Haworth was cleared of any wrong-doing. That, he can prove.
“Name one sitting politician who has endorsed Hayworth.
Sheriff Joe, for one.

AZ Republicans voice disdain for McCain at state GOP meeting The annual gathering of the Arizona Republican Party Statutory Meeting received a rare visit today. In fact, the arrival of Arizonas senior senator was so uncharacteristic, many long time state committeemen said they were unable to recall ever seeing him in attendance. Although the McCain sighting was an unusual and aberrant move for him, it is not one he will soon forget. Throughout his speech, chants of J.D.! J.D.! referencing his nemesis and unannounced phantom challenger, could be clearly heard among catcalls and hisses aimed at McCain. The popular former Congressman J.D. Hayworth, who enjoys a broad base of support, is being urged to enter the senate race to mount a Daschle-like challenge to McCain. Arizonas grassroots Republicans are weary of the aisle-crossing Maverick and desire actual representation. In fact, a Rasmussen survey of Arizona Republicans reported a towering 61% indicated McCain was out of touch with the party base. Several people in the crowd disapprovingly called out What about amnesty? during McCains speech and other committeemen held up signs that read Boo indicating their scorn. The aging senator has had a disconnect with his own party base for so long that he didnt even bother to attend the state presidential preference primary when his name was placed in nomination for the 2008 election, an overt display of scorn for the very people who brought him to that dance. A year-end Rasmussen Reports poll showed the old, long-time senator in a dead heat with Hayworth, causing the fearful McCain to purchase provocative and negative ads during Hayworths drive time radio call-in show on KFYI radio
Fred Thompson was always just a spooiler to split the conservative vote. (ala Huckster)
Fred Thomppson is just retreading his job as conservative distraction in order to split votes and protect the RINO.
A Rep from CA endorsed him recently. Don’t have that thread handy.
As far as I’m concerned....McCain is a louse and is responsible for what we are going through. He didn’t fight, he/his staff put a ‘gag’ order on Gov Palin and HE DIDN’T EXPOSE AND REFUSED TO TALK ABOUT THE FACTS OF THE MARXIST and instead ......said something to the effect that ‘An Obama presidency was nothing to fear’ (not a direct quote) and I believe he said that BEFORE he lost.
Some on here wonder why some of us get upset over endorsements from people that we consider Conservative? Get a clue...COUNTRY COMES FIRST not friendships, or political paybacks. /rant off
Hayworth is not the second coming of anyone. He is in the first generation of Tea Party candidates.
What's important here is:
A. Hayworth is the choice of We The People
B. McCain is the pink slip recipient of We The People
Those like-minded will endorse in that fashion. Those that endorse RINOs are on the wrong side of the fence by their own free will. The lines are being drawn. Looks like Sheriff Joe and Mark Levin are leading the conservative endorsement force.
McCain agrees; he thinks he should have the seat on automatic renewal.
SCOTT BROWN.
++++++++++++
Endorsed and is campaigning for McCain...
You're surprised? Thompson never was the conservative icon he's made out to be. His record in the Senate mirrors McCain's.
Fred Thompson is a huge disappointment.
He’s an actor.
He talks a good game but his actions are definitely a disappointment. Senators are too compromised to be of much use, imo, which is why I don’t like them as presidential candidates.
Haworth can do this --if the grassroots keep sprouting, and they will.
McMexico has so far Brown (who owed him a favor), mitt Romney, sleepy Fred Thompson and a few Democrat pals. 0bama probably keeps in touch to encourage McMexico. But....ALL THE KINGS HORSES AND ALL THE KINGS MEN...
NOT ONLY AN ACTOR, BUT OLE FREDDIE ISA PHONY, AS MUCH A RINO AS MCQUEEG IS. WHY HANNITY FEATURES HIM SO MUCH MAKES ME QUESTION FOX NEWS. NO ONE HAS GONE AT THOMPSON WITH TOUGH QUESTIONS ON HIS PROGRESSIVE VOTES WHILE IN THE SENATE. TOO MANY STARSTRUCK FOLLOWERS OUT THERE. THOMPSON IS A SPOILER. HE LOVES A VENUE WHICH COLORS HIM AS A 21st CENTURY WILL ROGERS, WHICH HE DEFINITELY IS NOT!
