With early voting about to commence in the March 2 gubernatorial primaries, Gov. Rick Perry holds a commanding lead over his two Republican rivals, but he may be unable to avoid a runoff, according to a newly released poll for the Star-Telegram and other major Texas newspapers.
The survey shows Perry with 45 percent support among likely Republican voters, while 29 percent back U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison. Wharton County businesswoman Debra Medina had 17 percent, drawing especially strong support from the Fort Worth metropolitan region, where she is running ahead of Hutchison but behind Perry.
Perry leads Hutchison 40 percent to 20 percent in the three-county Fort Worth region, with Medina running second with 26 percent in the heavily Republican area.

Some think Perry has presidential ambitions. As for KBH, she has said for several years that she was sick of Washington DC (don’t blame her) and sick of being in the minority party (don’t blame her) but how that added up to challenging the Republican incumbent governor never quite added up for me.
I’m not really sold on Perry because he tends to run right more than he governs however if the polls are accurate, I’m hopeful he avoids a run-off and can keep his money for the general election.
What I want to know is whether KBH will decide to serve out her Senate term if she loses in March. At first, she said would resign to devote her time to running for governor but since it seems clear that she isn’t going to win - and since she never got around to officially resigning - I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see her hang onto her current job til her term is up.
While Medina attracted the attention of Tea Party groups, I think the liberal media did a lot to play up her campaign because they wanted to see the GOP have to spend more money in the primaries so there would be less to use against the Democrats in the fall. Going up against a rested and refreshed Perry will be tougher for them than facing a war-weary Perry.
Yeah, we gotta be careful that way...
Medina was asked two direct questions to which she could not give a simple direct answer. Instead she decided to do the Texas Two Step and she really stepped in it.
The questions were phrased begining with:
1. Do you believe ........
2. would you disavow them or allow them to continue to advise you........
Info wars and Prison Planet are Troofer sites.
Don’t think KBH is going anywhere until her term is up after she didn’t resign in the Fall.
Also think your comments about the liberal media playing up Medina is probably true because nothing else makes any sense.
No need for that; I'll tell you right now. She's toast.
Medina should hang it up and go back to nursing.
Unqualified truther inexperienced nurses need not apply.
The day after the Beck interview no less.
Yep, Goodhair walked away with a landslide victory of less than 35%... I was part of the 65% and my wife voted NOA (None of the Above).
Perry is a RINO except during election years...
I might be forced to vote for him since the only thing worse would be KBH...
Sad, isn't it? I guess anyone can get on the republican ballot just because they want to.
I watched both debates and the questions were pathetic, never asked any serious questions of any of the candidate. Second debate was so bad, the panel doing the questioning was verbally fighting with Perry and Hutchison over percentages and statistics. Never saw such a poorly planned debate.
It was almost as if they didn't want you to know anything about any of them. Medina was never asked if she was pro life, but Hutchison was hammered on it. Medina was never asked about her close associations with Ron Paul, never asked if she was anti-war and obviously never asked her opinion of the 9-11 truthers.
I totally agree! Why doesn’t she just retire and have time with those two 8 yr olds of hers. She’s 66, wealthy and couldn’t wait to adopt the children. Why bother unless it’s all about the power. Oh, I guess that’s what most politicions are about! She’s also pro-choice and most Texans have voted for her holding our noses because we didn’t have another choice.
Rand Paul is also worshiped on those sites; unfortunately that doesn't stop some professing "conservatives" to support Rand. Bizarro world.
Heyup.
That was a good find. When I saw it was the next day I was shocked even more. Earlier today on a thread one of the new people outed himself as a truther (cannot remember the name) when he talked about the black boxes. All I could think was he is a truther no wonder he supports her.
Some of the explanations defy probability from her group on here.
Cannot believe she got this far. Keep notice articles keep going on with her better numbers before the Beck interview. Don’t know what they hope to gain by that.
The support for Rand Paul on here has me shaking my head. How can you call yourself a conservative and support him? Makes no sense to me at all!
Like your Texas Two Step comparison — tells it like it is!
Sat next to a cop (Sgt I believe) at LaGuardia on my way home from a business trip. He was a bit of a wreck. He was sick on 9/11 and missed work. He was stationed at the WTC station (don’t know specifics). He is now depressed because all of his friends were killed and he was spared by a fluke. He felt guilt for not dying with them.
It was in person, it was real. To say cops weren’t there is a crock.
That was all Onyx!

MSM agenda. They will do all they can to hurt the Republican party. If it was White against Medina she would be skinned alive by the same media that loves her now.
Your story makes it all the sadder that she would say something so heartless.
