Former Vice President Dick Cheney said he hasn't made up his mind who he will support in the 2012 presidential election. When asked if he thought Sarah Palin was qualified, he punted. ---
Is Sarah Palin qualified to be president? Former Vice President Dick Cheney answered that question with an artful dodge this morning when he appeared on ABC's This Week.(see video below) "I haven't made a decision yet on whom I'm going to support for president next time around," he said to host Jonathan Karl. "Whoever it is is going to have to prove themselves capable of being President of the United States."
"And those tests will come during the course of the campaigns obviously," he continued. "I think all of the prospective candidates out there have a lot of work to do if in fact they are going to persuade a majority of Americans that they are ready to take on the world's toughest job."
You didn't think you'd get a yes or no on that question, did you? Come on

Palin campaigning for McCain really doesn’t amount to much? Really? Then why would she do it? Why would she expose herself to ridicule, and lose a great deal of the people who like her? It is all too, curious. I know that I will not vote for her if she ever runs for a national office. She lost a ton of conservatives when she went to Arizona and stood beside that, that turd that is always trying to reach across the aisle to be used by the liberals as butt paper. Good luck Sarah. Good luck.
ABSOLUTELY!!!
We elect a woman president, next thing you know...
THEY'LL WANT TO VOTE!!!
I don't think any of us want to see that. What's next...driving cars....(shudder)...
I need a drink.
Cheney will come around.
I’ve met President Bush. He is certainly not an idiot.
Jim, I think Cheney was the glue that held the last administration together through thick and thin. I don’t say that to diminish Bush, but to acknowledge Cheney’s contributions.
I think he made the ticket more palatable. I think his sound judgment was needed at times. I think he and Bush made a good team considering their views, and I didn’t always agree with the direction that administration took. It would have been a complete disaster if it had been Bush/McCain for instance.
As for Cheney’s comments concerning the Palin question, I think they hit the right tone. He doesn’t rule her in or out. He doesn’t praise or criticize her. He defers to the election cycle, when his endorsement will matter. Now it would be premature and could cause him to have to backtrack if someone more sound came along.
For that reason I say, full speed ahead for good judgment. And if Sarah turns out to be the most sound and reasoned person in early 2012, good. I’m not convinced she will be. I’m not convinced she won’t be either.
Right now I think she has the inside track, but I do have concerns about her readiness.
IMO she needs to bump up her international credentials. You know I’m not much of an internationalist, but I do think you need to be able to exhibit a grasp of international affairs.
I also see some weakness in some areas of domestic affairs, financial markets and the like. I don’t see these as fatal, but I do want her to round out her pluses with additional understanding.
If we sign on to her too quickly, what need is there for her to grow. I want more growth.
As for Sarah’s general outlook and instincts, I like them very much. It does trouble me greatly that she would support a man for re-election that would more than likely be a thorn in her side, possibly working to defeat her more sound instincts.
As Governor, she could not call out the National Guard (of which she was CIC) to force the 10% of Alaskans who disagreed with her, into submission.
Her actions(words) got the Big Oil executives attention, and got them to the table. Granted, we still have not moved any gas from the North Slope, but it looks more likely than any time in the past.
She used words to force them to begin development on an oilfield they had been sitting on for 20+ years.
She used "words" to resume aerial wolf control to help increase game populations for The People who depend on them for subsistence.
No, words don't mean anything.
Go all woman Sarah!
Go away Hillary!
I think that one will try a comeback and that’s what scares me.
I can’t imagine it - so that tells me Hillary just may try it. Hillary and I NEVER saw eye to eye on anything. ;)
I’m FOR America!
IF YOU can’t see the difference YOU should at least ‘keep it real’.
GO SARAH!! They are really steamed and PATRIOTS are enjoying it!! Way to go! Hi Mom!
“It is all too, curious”
This is a strange comment.
He did not say that, he said he has not decided. Besides he looks like a social moderate.
Thank God! Thank God thank God thank God thank God.
“Effectiveness is a far better comparison.”
Excellent point. Well stated.
Quit being reasonable and mature. You will drive the koolaid drinkers crazy.
I love this man. What a patriot, always putting the best interests of the Country first. Go, VP Cheney!!
Keep your $hithooks off of my senator.
Being sensitive about a word is liberal.
Is no one free to speak in your presence without offending you? If so, you are a liberal!!
What legal barriers prevent them?
