Police Officer jokes on Facebook about shooting gun rights advocates
American Thinker ^ | February 13, 2010 | Aaron Gee

Posted on 02/14/2010 12:25:52 AM PST by neverdem

It's being reported that a police officer from East Palo Alto joked about gunning down proponents of the second amendment on Facebook.  The article in today's Mercury News tells of the police officer in question joking about shooting someone as "2 weeks off".

After several more comments in the thread, Tuason apparently joked that officers should shoot the advocates, who have made recent headlines throughout the Bay Area for sipping coffee at cafes and performing other everyday acts with visible weapons.

"Sounds like you had someone practicing their 2nd amendment rights last night!" Tuason wrote. "Should've pulled the AR out and prone them all out! And if one of them makes a furtive movement ... 2 weeks off!!!"
The officer public remarks are causing a huge uproar at the popular calguns.net web site and among second amendment advocates.  Several blogs and other news outlets have already picked up the story.  Several members of the calgun.net website have filed complaints regarding the officers questionable comments with the East Palo Alto police department.

Will this be another Van Jones moment where the press ignores stories it doesn't like? The fact that I was alerted to this incident via email when I read the NYT, WSJ, and several other papers as part of my morning routine tells me that this story won't get much traction until it's so big the media can't ignore it.  How will this be spun by the media when they do finally cover it?  My bet's on the press story line going like this "Second amendment activists are dangerous and have no sense of humor, threaten police officer for making joke."

This community is next to Stanford, a place that needs peace and quiet for their important research. The man is unqualified and should be TERMINATED.

TERMINATED - TERMINATED - TERMINATED - TERMINATED

Making terrorist threats to law-abiding citizens is unkind —we need to help him by TERMINATING HIM.

FIRING REQUIRED - FIRING REQUIRED - FIRING REQUIRED

Sorry to have misplaced you. I had this odd idea you were out in California, my bad. I hope you get better. Don’t scare the doctors too bad with talk of malpractice suits, though. They might not want to see you again.

If this gets yakked around enough in his area, he might get reassigned to a desk job because no prosecutor would want to deal with the problem this would be in court.

The question is why does the occifer not get an ultimatum, either take that down and cool it, or else you’ll spend the rest of your career pushing pencils.

They didn't feel the cop should be held responsible because he was a “MINORITY” and he had an extremely serious drug problem.

Hoo wee. This is the kind of thing public unions get ya. It should be "you do dope on duty and do something crazy like this, you never 'bear the sword' on our behalf again. Period."

We could use more police who’ve been in military combat units

I can't agree with that.

IMO, too many police forces now resemble the standing armies that concerned the Founding Fathers.

Automatic weapons, armored vehicles, SWAT teams, and Ranger wannabees who are still looking to kill the enemy with permission.

Not only that. The city is liable for the cops behavior, so the city will go into a cover up mode to keep from being sued or to lessen their liability.

It doesn't take long for the bad cops to learn they can do whatever they want, and the city will cover it up.

Don't ever let anyone tell you police abuse and corruption is covered up from the bottom up. The cover up comes from the top down.

Does this mean that it’s OK for me to joke about mowing down pigs?

Jokes about donuts, bacon, and JBTs are officially NOT off-limits, of course.

"I can't agree with that."

That's understandable, given the common perceptions of today. Movies often portray soldiers as proud, evil characters. Strength is seen as coming from sadism. Heroes are evil characters. Most people believe those attributes to be true to life. Most real combat soldiers are far more humble than most people are allowed to know.

"IMO, too many police forces now resemble the standing armies that concerned the Founding Fathers.

"

...resemble...wannabees. You said it. Some of them resemble what you see on TV, and those are the ones who stand out in human memory. There were better times that most of us are too young or forgetful to remember, when men with combat training (excluding non-combat specialties) were preferred as patrolmen. ...and more common sense in judicial circles.

Now I see mean, dishonest, scared people all over the place--like herds of edgy cattle ready to be spooked into stampedes. Have fun with the "gatekeeping" wannabes in corporate-government, who keep the men out. I'm going to enjoy some peace and quiet...without television.

Maybe YOUR knowledge of cops comes from TV and Hollywood, but mine is from real life.

If there is a boot on the back of one’s neck, where is one’s face?
