It's being reported that a police officer from East Palo Alto joked about gunning down proponents of the second amendment on Facebook. The article in today's Mercury News tells of the police officer in question joking about shooting someone as "2 weeks off".
After several more comments in the thread, Tuason apparently joked that officers should shoot the advocates, who have made recent headlines throughout the Bay Area for sipping coffee at cafes and performing other everyday acts with visible weapons. The officer public remarks are causing a huge uproar at the popular calguns.net web site and among second amendment advocates. Several blogs and other news outlets have already picked up the story. Several members of the calgun.net website have filed complaints regarding the officers questionable comments with the East Palo Alto police department.
"Sounds like you had someone practicing their 2nd amendment rights last night!" Tuason wrote. "Should've pulled the AR out and prone them all out! And if one of them makes a furtive movement ... 2 weeks off!!!"
This guy doesn’t realize that he is outnumbered, and the police uniforms make them easy to identify. So long as he are on the side of the honest people and against the thieves, he is an asset. If and when he becomes a liability, he will be so surprised when he is proned out, and gets more than two weeks off.
All:
There are all kinds of people in every line of work—even good ones and bad ones. We could use more police who’ve been in military combat units (more often cooler), but generally, they’re selected to be a cleaner group than most.
In real life, police and police work aren’t at all much like what you’ve seen on television. Most of them are slower to make friends with strangers (especially newer ones), but most of them don’t have as much of the “us against them” outlook as shown in entertainment. Most of them have friends outside of their line of work—carefully chosen friends.
So yeah, there’s a bad one here and there. There are even some bad nuclear physicists on our unsafe planet (scarier).
IMO, television is, for the most part, not good for relations between police and other citizens. It’s antagonistic.
Wow. Who knew the East Palo Alto PD had a 4 star General in command. What does the Palo Alto PD have, a Field Marshal?
Nothing more dangerous or scary than a rogue cop.
I wonder what other things would get you killed by this psycho, I am sure there is a list.
He is dangerous to citizens and other policeman. Can him and eliminate future problems.
“Looks like hes somewhat mental. Coming from California, though, thats no surprise.”
Yeah, but if some thing happens too him he’ll get the full ‘Hero of The People’ treatment with a huge funeral and speeches by ‘Important People’ promising further restrictions on firearms and closer surveillance of the Citizens.
What this clown and so many young cops don’t get is that armed, honest citizens are their best friends.
He needs to be terminated.
That said, the cop in the article had better spend some time at the range. I have seen some of our locals shoot. Some are good..very good. But most would be ill-advised to go plinking at people who do practice.
Career Opportunity: Buy bagpipes on EBay. Great career in Police Funerals, and you only have to learn one song.
2. Also more typical of a new arrival in a position with a little authority than someone who has operated in that position and had to deal with the practical exercising of that authority.
3. Tough talk about how he'd handle some law-abiding citizens. Nice. Let's see him walk into a 'hood full of bangers and show everyone how it's done.
4. Also typical of liberal mentality -- "I get a gun, you don't."
"We have to be careful because they're on his own personal private Web page," Estelle said. "We have to be careful not to violate his First Amendment rights."
Irony so thick you could cut it with a knife.

Bad cop. No donut.
First Amendment rights do not include making less-than-veiled threats to people who abide by the law, especially when you are a cop.
If I were to joke about killing this man, I would, rightfully, be investigated.
Why does he get to joke about killing me?
That is the main reason I think some people feel the way they do. Or just maybe, they be ascared of loud noises...BOOM!
Just think back to the song from the early 90's by Ice-T, "Cop Killer". There's your answer.
Well it ain't no more okay.
This cop is a damn fool. Those kind of statements could come back in a civil trial in the future in the event he actually does shoot his weapon at someone on the job.I would not want to be in his shoes when that case goes to trial. He would have NO credability in front of a jury.
If he shoots like most cops I’ve seen at the range , he’d probably shoot himself. This moron should be fired and lose all of his taxpayer funded benefits.
Now there's a great question.
Great legal point.
