Medina VS Beck (Challenging Glenn)
2/11/10

Posted on 02/11/2010 10:18:12 AM PST by eeevil conservative

Quick facts for full disclosure:

I have been a Beck fan since 2001, and an avid fan since 2004.

I have met Glenn at a book signing, I thanked him for changing my life. He is the reason that as a single mother of 3 (2 toddlers and a middle schooler), I went back to college. I made the President’s list, and he signed my certificate from the school for me. I cried, and he got up from behind his table and hugged me.

I have a great love and respect for him as a man, not just a talk show guy.

Now, onto his interview today with Debra Medina, candidate for Governor in Texas.

Glenn had received emails accusing Medina of being a 9/11 truther, so he decided to ask her about it.

Her answer was a complete and total bomb. She claimed that she thought good points had been made by truthers, but she had not looked into it enough to make up her mind, and she was focused on other issues.

I understand the question. I believe the question was legit, and I think most everyone listening expected her to just put those rumors to resist and deny being a truther in any way. She didn’t.

My first reaction was that she danced, didn’t answer directly, and so she lost my trust. Period.

The problem with Beck, for me, occurred after the interview. From all I have seen and heard from Glenn Beck, he understands the desperation and frustration of Americans with our elected servants far better than any other voice on TV or in radio. So I was shocked at the way he handled the Medina supporters who called in after the interview.

Glenn, these people are desperate. They understand that property taxes are a direct violation of any sense of individual property ownership. In my experience, I have found politicians and candidates who agree with me on this, yet none are willing to take a stand to fix it. Instead they offer excuses. Without owning personal property without paying the government for that “right”- it is not a right. All land is government owned and we pay them a fee to manage as long as property taxes exist. This issue alone makes me want to see Medina win because there is no freedom without the ability to own our own property. Are there other issues that could be a litmus test to nullify her for me? Of course, trust being one of them.

Dear Glenn, your frustration with the callers was a surprise to me. The callers were not truthers, they were people who supported Medina in spite of her position on the truther issue. You, Glenn, usually have such a greater insight into the bigger issue at hand than what you showed today on your show.

The American people are so desperate to get out from under the thumb of Federal and State Governments, that they are willing to excuse Medina on this issue. WOW! That says a LOT about the level of desperation and frustration of the people. Glenn, you are right that these people sound crazy for being willing to excuse Medina’s answer to your question. But the key word is “sound.” Yes, they “sound” crazy, but I believe you know that they are not. I understand their distress. They are just desperate and frustrated beyond what we would normally deem “normal.”

But we are not in normal times. You, yourself, daily remind us that we are in extraordinary times. I am not asking you to side with Medina or her supporters. I am asking you to see the bigger story or the bigger picture here. Glenn, the people of America are more awakened and more desperate than ever before. To see that Medina can maintain support despite her ridiculous answer to your questions is a huge red flag. Hearing the reaction from her supporters to your interview with her both saddens me, and scares me. What I am asking of you Glenn, is to not ridicule these people. I feel sorry for them Glenn. I feel sorry for them and for my country; sorry that America and her people are this desperate to return rights and power back into their own hands, as to seemingly abandon all reason in an effort to elect someone they believe will free them from the noose of tyranny.

The issue that people are willing to overlook a truther in office out of pure desperation....

Because you either have a Anti-American Liberal Globalist who wants Open Borders (then masquarades as a “conservative”) like Rick Perry......or you have another Anti-American Liberal Globalist who wants Open Borders, like Kay Barely Hutchinson.

I can see people choosing Medina, even with the Truther elements around her....because the other choices for Texas are 100 times worse

“People that will do the right thing”

Yup. Heard the interview with Medina, and she did equivocate.

Beck’s ‘stance’ on those who question 0bama’s loyalties and dubious background is laughable. Laughable. And obviously controlled by Murdoch, Ailes & the Saudis—and self-preservation. Dobbs was axed for it, after all.

One of the points Beck made about those who agree with governmental involvement in 9/11 was that the 9/11 Commission and others investigated. You can’t be over 15 +/- years old in this country and hold no conviction about what happened on 9/11, so Medina crapped out there. It’s akin to calling WWII “Mr. Roosevelt’s trumped up little war.” However, Beck can’t say people have ‘investigated’ 0bama, now, can he, unless Beck is truly uninformed, or naive? OTH, Lt. Harris found out the hard way.

Odd that Beck thinks the silence on the part of media about those who question 0bama’s background are so very quick to point out that 0bama will silence dissent PERIOD. Even more odd that Beck desires honesty and a restoration of morals and virtues when he blithely skips over legitimate ‘uninvestigated’ concerns that many have.

She also came across as a motormouth wanting to make statements rather than carry on a conversation.

Beck is not silent on the birthers. Where have you been? He says it’s a dead issue.

I remember when Glenn would have some chick on his show that espoused that Middle Eastern men were behind the Oklahoma bombing by McVeigh.....

he really should show a LOT more patience with Birthers.....he really disappointed me with the way he handled that issue.....

I see that no one here is considering that this may have been a political hack job by Beck. I understand that Beck is a Perry supporter.

Medina may have messed up the answer to the question by attempting to tap dance around it but, IMO, Perry has urinated in our Wheaties more than once.

Medina still looks better than either Kay Bailout Hutchison or Rick (TTC, Giardasil) Perry.

yes she did!

it was like she had a script and was going to get it all out no matter what...

and she didn’t seem to have any passion about what she was saying, it was more like memorized info that she was programmed to repeat....

I don’t like her.....but I did like her property tax stand....and the way she seemed to take on State Rights....

other than that- but I don’t like HER at all..

Beck pretended to be well versed on the BC issue, which he is not. His staments indicated that at best he is misinformed. Had he replied that he didn’t think the issue was important to him and therefore he has not researched it would have be less phony.

Because he misrepresented the facts of the issue and then slamed those who are well versed he is a phony.

If he really believed in “speak the truth to power” he would be speaking about the BC issue.

He he a phony

Well stated....and exact to the point.

Beck has no knowledge of the issue....and pretty much has resorted to SAUL ALINSKY tactics to try and dismiss the Obama Birther issue.

Those who seem so critical of Medina.....are putting their decision based on an interviewer who uses SAUL ALINSKY tactics on those he disagrees with....and leads an organization that is rife of New Age (non-Christian) principles

She’s totally unqualified and no longer deserves to be publicly defended, nor should her supporters

Well put.

If Sarah Palin said what Medina said, I would have a hard time believing that she would have more than a handful of supporters left. I heard the interview. Medina sounded arrogant and annoyed from the git go. A normal candidate would be thrilled at the opportunity to reach out to a nationwide audience as a conduit to campaign contributions. Instead she was combative, dismissive and imo, rude.

"I am happy you changed your life for the better and I am sad you attributed it to a radio/tv host."

Why? She had to attribute her wake up call to something, or someone. Most people do. What's wrong with that?

On the other hand, I’ll take weak interview skills over the certainty of being lied to and betrayed by establishment Rs like Perry and KBH. In any event, I think that in our media addled society, Medina lost her chance for a run-off as a result of the interview. KBH and Perry will run hard with it.

What is really scary is that people will still vote for a treasonous Open Borders Liberal like Rick Perry....who believes in seizing private property to redistribute it to foreign companies (the TTC)....or vote for Kay Barley Hucksterson...another Anti-American Open Borders Globalist.

Medina may border on being a truther.....but dismissing her because of an interview with someone who believes that “Birthers are nuts and liberals”...is insane. The interviewer has a LOT MORE BAGGAGE than Medina.....and practices SAUL ALINSKY tactics on many conservatives.

unfortunately, too many on here still value Communism and Totalitarianism over Conservatism and Freedom

I’ve been listening to him. My take is that he says that ‘you don’t need’ the issue.

Then I misunderstood your intent, and I apologize.

What I heard was a Texas Gubernatorial Candidate who literally committed political suicide this morning. I was stunned. I can only imagine any Medina supporters listening were devastated. I would have been. It was a real “There is no Santa” moment. I have no doubt that they were counting on a boost in the polls, instead they were treated to the knowledge that their candidate is a kook. Sobering is an understatement.

I am not a big Beck fan, but I do know that he is a entertainer. Perhaps more than but no less than that. I expect nothing more from him. This is a gig, and I never forget that his angle is to stay on the air. I believe that his passion is real, and he has grown immeasurably since he started. I don’t think he would have blasted her if she hadn’t blown basic candidate questions.

Truly sad for her.
