Medina VS Beck (Challenging Glenn)
2/11/10

Posted on 02/11/2010 10:18:12 AM PST by eeevil conservative

Quick facts for full disclosure:

I have been a Beck fan since 2001, and an avid fan since 2004.

I have met Glenn at a book signing, I thanked him for changing my life. He is the reason that as a single mother of 3 (2 toddlers and a middle schooler), I went back to college. I made the President’s list, and he signed my certificate from the school for me. I cried, and he got up from behind his table and hugged me.

I have a great love and respect for him as a man, not just a talk show guy.

Now, onto his interview today with Debra Medina, candidate for Governor in Texas.

Glenn had received emails accusing Medina of being a 9/11 truther, so he decided to ask her about it.

Her answer was a complete and total bomb. She claimed that she thought good points had been made by truthers, but she had not looked into it enough to make up her mind, and she was focused on other issues.

I understand the question. I believe the question was legit, and I think most everyone listening expected her to just put those rumors to resist and deny being a truther in any way. She didn’t.

My first reaction was that she danced, didn’t answer directly, and so she lost my trust. Period.

The problem with Beck, for me, occurred after the interview. From all I have seen and heard from Glenn Beck, he understands the desperation and frustration of Americans with our elected servants far better than any other voice on TV or in radio. So I was shocked at the way he handled the Medina supporters who called in after the interview.

Glenn, these people are desperate. They understand that property taxes are a direct violation of any sense of individual property ownership. In my experience, I have found politicians and candidates who agree with me on this, yet none are willing to take a stand to fix it. Instead they offer excuses. Without owning personal property without paying the government for that “right”- it is not a right. All land is government owned and we pay them a fee to manage as long as property taxes exist. This issue alone makes me want to see Medina win because there is no freedom without the ability to own our own property. Are there other issues that could be a litmus test to nullify her for me? Of course, trust being one of them.

Dear Glenn, your frustration with the callers was a surprise to me. The callers were not truthers, they were people who supported Medina in spite of her position on the truther issue. You, Glenn, usually have such a greater insight into the bigger issue at hand than what you showed today on your show.

The American people are so desperate to get out from under the thumb of Federal and State Governments, that they are willing to excuse Medina on this issue. WOW! That says a LOT about the level of desperation and frustration of the people. Glenn, you are right that these people sound crazy for being willing to excuse Medina’s answer to your question. But the key word is “sound.” Yes, they “sound” crazy, but I believe you know that they are not. I understand their distress. They are just desperate and frustrated beyond what we would normally deem “normal.”

But we are not in normal times. You, yourself, daily remind us that we are in extraordinary times. I am not asking you to side with Medina or her supporters. I am asking you to see the bigger story or the bigger picture here. Glenn, the people of America are more awakened and more desperate than ever before. To see that Medina can maintain support despite her ridiculous answer to your questions is a huge red flag. Hearing the reaction from her supporters to your interview with her both saddens me, and scares me. What I am asking of you Glenn, is to not ridicule these people. I feel sorry for them Glenn. I feel sorry for them and for my country; sorry that America and her people are this desperate to return rights and power back into their own hands, as to seemingly abandon all reason in an effort to elect someone they believe will free them from the noose of tyranny.

I’ve not been a fan of Beck’s that long, Eeevil....

But now to the important stuff. I didn’t know we were toasting yet today.

Cheers!

There are always people who get involved in cult worship, be it some of the rabbid Bushbots, Obamaniods, Beckists or even Sarah McPalin. They refuse to see any faults with their projection of saviour on to the object of worship. Thus they fall for any person who can use their weakness against them for their own power.

And before the Palin supporters atack, I support Sarah McPaliin, but she is dead wrong on her support for McCain, so I will be watching her closer from now on.

I enjoy Glenn when he is making fun of the fascists in government, but, his attack on progressives in both parties is getting a little tiring. Glenn’s list of goods guys is very short. The goal is to defeat the socialists. If that means supporting the lesser progressive, it is moving the right direction. The choice should be made in primaries, but, once in the general there is no choice. He should continue to find fodder among the loons.

She’s supposed to be on Dan Patrick’s show this afternoon at 5:00. 700 AM Houston. Should be very interesting...

Even though I really don’t care for ANY of our candidates (can we get a true conservative in Texas at least?!), I guess I’m going to have to stick with Perry. KBH is definitely off the table.

Very good points. There is too much focus on the personalities, and less on the actual issues....or where these people really stand on them.

Too much focus is being placed on Medina’s alleged “trutherism”....not on Beck’s use of Alinsky tactics on people who do not fit his (or Fox News) Left-leaning, statist agenda. When the two other options for the GOP nom in the Texas Governor race are outright Liberals and borderline Anti-Americans/Anti-Texans....you end up supporting Liberals.

As for Palin, she used some really poor judgement in supporting McCain in the Arizona Senate primary. Her biggest problem is that she will be blamed by Liberals, and the Liberal element of the GOP, for “costing McCain another election”, when McCain loses. Add to that, how much McCain’s staffers have trashed Palin in the media....she is setting herself up for a big fall....

Someone should ask Glenn if he believes Obama is a natural born citizen.
He's answered that. Just because he doesn't drone on and on about it daily to satisfy your one track mind isn't an example of never answering or being a Saudi apologist..

She said ". . . I have not been out publicly uh questioning that." Her answer sounded more like, "Oh, crap, I wonder who outed me? Hmmm, I can't wait to get even with them. Oh crap, I better start thinking about an answer."

MS Paint is my friend. Took me a while to find a picture of a turkey being carved with a fork. The guy’s slightly crazy look is icing on the cake. My first public use of the term “yeppers” - I have a friend who uses it all the time, just can’t think of who it is. Glad you were entertained.

For starters look up Debra Medina’s column ‘Latinos and the GOP’

It’s a shame isn’t it, that Republicans continue to ignore Hispanics especially here in Texas?’ Debra Medina

‘Ignore them’, Mrs Medina? Since when? What more do you want? Or shouldn’t we ask?

Medina ad: “Who is going to think more about Latino families? Rick Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison or me, who has a Latino family?” (Medina’s cultural heritage is German and Bohemian.)

Medina statement “Being married, however, to someone with a Mexican American heritage, I certainly embrace the culture.”

Another statement (upon being asked if she considers herself a latina: “I’d not consider myself anything other than a wife and mother, a nurse and a patriot. I believe we too often get into race when it’s immaterial.”

I'm sick and tired of illegals flooding into Texas, bringing with them crime, third world diseases, sucking our welfare system dry AND WHINING FOR MORE!

I don't believe for one minute Medina's propaganda aboout wanting to strengthen the border!

No, Thanks, Mrs Medina. I never trusted you from the start. Thank God Glen Beck outed you. Now pick up your sombrero from the ring and go home.

“The callers were not truthers, they were people who supported Medina in spite of her position on the truther issue.”

I am sorry but if you are seeking statewide office and you believe that your government murdered 3000 of it’s own citizens (and saying “I have questions” is a cowards way of saying “I’m a trufer but don’t judge me”) then you and anyone supporting you deserve every last bit of mud slinging mockery that you get.
