John Edwards proposes to mistress Rielle Hunter, buys $4.5M beach house

What a guy - John Edwards is reportedly making his mistress his missus.

The disgraced 2008 presidential contender has proposed to his baby-mama, Rielle Hunter, and is even setting her up in a swank $3.5 million beachfront mansion, The National Enquirer reported Wednesday.

The supermarket tabloid - which so far has been usually on target on the Edwards affair - says the cheatin' pol popped the question last month, shortly before he issued a statement claiming paternity of the couple's two-year-old daughter, Frances Quinn.

Six days later, Edward's cancer-stricken wife, Elizabeth, confirmed she had separated from her dog of a husband - paving the way for the ex-senator to make Rielle, 45, his wife.

"John knew Rielle had been waiting for a proposal for two long years," the Enquirer said it was told by a source. "Since they've gotten involved, she's followed every order he gave her, going on a cross-country cover-up, hiding away during her pregnancy and after giving birth for the sake of his presidential aspirations."

"Rielle never uttered a peep about their affair publicly, and remained loyal to John," added the source. "John felt she deserved to know that he wanted to raise their child together, and wanted Rielle in his life as his partner."

“On Thursday, her doctor, Lisa Carey of the University of North Carolina Medical Center, described Edwards’ condition as Stage IV metastatic breast cancer, meaning the cancer has spread beyond her breast and lymph nodes. In addition to the spot on her rib, there may be other areas of cancer, the doctor said. She specifically mentioned “very small” abnormalities in the lung that are “too small to say what’s going on there.” (Metastatic breast cancer Q&A )

The doctor said Elizabeth Edwards’ treatment hadn’t been determined, pending more test results. It could include hormone therapy or chemotherapy. Stage IV breast cancer is considered a systemic disease, meaning it is no longer contained in one area but is throughout the body. Surgery isn’t usually considered effective because it will remove cancer cells only from one area, but the cancer is more likely located in other places.

Reliable survival rates for breast cancer that has spread aren’t available. Five years after a first diagnosis of breast cancer, 88 percent of women are still alive.”

Lawyers for John Edwards’ Former Aide Hand Over Sex Tape
Andrew Young Delivers ‘Personal’ Videotape to North Carolina Court

Lawyers for a former John Edwards aide handed over to a North Carolina court today a purported sex tape allegedly made by the one-time presidential candidate and his mistress.

The ex-aide, Andrew Young, retrieved the alleged sex tape from a safe deposit box at a First Citizens Bank in Atlanta on Tuesday, accompanied by a private security guard appointed by the court.

Young gave a videotape labeled “special” (the sex tape) and a DVD called “hmm files copy 2,” plus a log of the safe deposit box’s activity, to the guard, who delivered the items to the court to be put under seal. According to the guard who testified today, the log showed the box was last opened in December 2008.

Young’s attorney also turned over a copy of the sex tape from the Youngs’ home along with additional items, including a CD of photos.

The handover came after a week of legal battles.

North Carolina Judge Abraham Penn Jones ordered that a security officer accompany Young to retrieve the tape and remove personal photographs from the Youngs’ computer. In response, the Youngs filed an appeal against the order Monday, claiming it amounted to unreasonable search and seizure.

The Court of Appeals issued a stay in the case Tuesday, but the ruling came down after Young had already turned over the tape to the security guard.

Rielle Hunter, 42, was granted a temporary restraining order last month to prevent Andrew and Cheri Young from distributing a “personal videotape,” which she contends is her property.

As far as Elizabeth Edwards’ cancer goes, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, but ANY sympathy I may have had for her went out the window when she started using it as a political bargaining chip.

I remember when he was on the ticket with Lurch sKerry (who, by the way, served in Vietnam), that occasionally the press would show pictures of he with his older daughter, and I would also see clips of he and his daughter on stage together at campaign rallies...what struck me about those at the time was that if you didn't know about them at all, you'd think that his daugther was his wife. Then when you had the three of them together, E. Edwards most definitely looked older than the "youthful" John. Back then, she was very overweight, their daughter in her early 20s I believe, and poor Elizabeth would often be shown on tape walking behind John and their daughter. I can even remember seeing John and their daughter with the two young children (they were real young back in 2000). Again, if you didn't know, you'd see them as the family unit (minus E.E.). Anyway, the thought crossed my mind occasionally that the LSM was deliberately trying to project an image of Edwards with a younger, beautiful wife...like the ol' John and Jackie kind of deal.

I realize that sounds cynical, callous, but I would never put it past the sicko minds of the media.
