Sorry to be a wet blanket, but someone has to do it.
The Miss Me Yet? billboard (inspired by Jonathan Maneys t-shirts) is cute. But lets not get carried away with nostalgia.
President Bush put America on the proper war footing after 9/11 and deserves much credit for doing so, but he also:
1) joined with open-borders progressives McCain and Kennedy to try to force shamnesty down our throats;
2) massively expanded the federal role in education;
3) championed the Medicare prescription drug entitlement using phony math;
4) kowtowed to the jihadi-enabling Saudis;
5) stocked DHS with incompetents and cronies;
6) pushed Hillarycare for housing;
7) enabled turncoat Arlen Specter;
8. nominated crony Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court;
9) pre-socialized the economy for Obama by embracing TARP, the auto bailouts, the AIG bailout, and in his own words:
Ive abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system. George W. Bush
No, I dont miss having a corporate socialist Republican in the White House any more than I like having a corporate socialist Democrat in the White House now.
This from a clone of R2D2.......
And this is why your first response is to call people names? Because you respect them?
The cutest bot in the whole wide world.
(Or so my husband tells me.... ;*)
That is not always true. I have had disagreements with him for many pages on FR and he has not called me any kind of -bot.
In general though, FR posters should strive to be more civil. I have been called many names by others here, many times for criticizing GWB. Now I mostly avoid such discussions, which degenerate into dead-horse-beating sessions, repeating points that have been stated many times before.
Look closely, the pic on the right is not blank.
Amen!
The first encounter I had with the boy, he started flinging "bots" at me left and right with no regard to the truth. With Hannity, I explained that I hardly ever listened to him (he whines and repeats himself), so he moved on to Levin (I can't even get his radio station here, and then he moved on to another. There was no "oops" I'm wrong, just moving on to another name to call me a "bot" about. It was like being in the 3rd grade again.
On other threads the "Palinbot" accusation has been leveled at many who were just defending what she had done.
As long as sickoflibs engages in the adolescent name-calling he does so very, very often, he hurts conservatism.
Somewhere inside, sickoflibs knows he is guilty of throwing out insults first and thinking later (or maybe not), and never, ever admitting he has done anything wrong. He knows he is lying about my calling the mods on him (what a ridiculous waste of time and energy that would be), and yet here on this thread, he repeated the lie.
The boy has issues. He may not call you names, he may not have called GOP_Lady names, but he calls many, many people names as a first response.
Unlike his words on this thread, he does not respect differences of opinion. He mocks them.
But then again, she wouldn't have gotten the attention she was looking for.
Amen and Amen.
And did it all while ignoring the most horrible attack machine this world as ever seen. I thought that the Stalin machine used agains his former comrades was bad, but the MSM attacked Bush at every breath and every turn. And President Bush just smiled and kept right on walking over them. That is class.
Mr. Bork would have been my choice.
Alito and Roberts were and are very good but not as right wing as say Ginsberg is far left.
Eff yeah. Seriously, this is the most INCOMPETENT assessment I have EVER seen by Malkin. Downright incompetent.
lol...and the harpies scowl and weep
This thread is still burning :)
Nice post, FRiend. Nice........
I got some real crap for posting this, but so did Michelle. Amazing to read ‘conservatives’ attacking her.
“...BUT she found my weakness...”
Disagreement is fine; Socratic method of dialogue - Candor, intelligence, and Good Will wins out every time. Just hate seeing folks who should be allies duking it out...
Glad you guys can work it out.
On another note...I just spent four hours digging out of a 6ft wall of snow, compliments of the township plows...!^%^&#%!$%$%*&!!! Good God, it’s a b*tch getting old...Tiem for Absorbine Jr on the back, and Jack Daniels’ in the front...[groan]
“Eff yeah. Seriously, this is the most INCOMPETENT assessment I have EVER seen by Malkin. Downright incompetent.”
Ignoring the truth of Bush’s liberal legacy won’t make it go away.
Or make conservatives forget the next time the liberal GOP cheerleaders demand our support for their favorite liberal-of-the-day.
But then again, she wouldn't have gotten the attention she was looking for.
That's rather condescending to suggest she wrote the article for attention.
Not counting primaries, I voted for GWB twice for governor and twice for POTUS. After the 2000 election, I defended GWB all over the world in my travels, from Edinburgh to Macau.
But I viewed his “See you at the signing” attitude on amnesty as the same kind of arrogance as Obama’s “I won.” I think he is a very big reason we have Obama now. But he did some things right. I am strongly pro-life, and I suspect you are too.
I am posting this to show that I, like many others on this site, evolved from zealous GWB support to anger at GWB. But he is not in power now, and I am not going to waste a lot of time on arguments that continue to beat a dead horse.
We should be concerned about politicians who appear conservative but later turn against us, but almost all our energy should be dedicated to kicking out the rabid anti-Constitution, anti-capitalist congresscrooks in office now.
I believe that you, I and sickoflibs will all work toward that goal.
