Im here to start working, a resolute Brown said, entering the Russell Senate Building en route to his transitional office. We have to get our office up and running ... Im here, ready to go I have a whole morning of briefings.
As for Kennedy, he faces a Republican rival who is backed by Browns top strategists.
A WPRI-12 poll shows Kennedy with a 56 percent unfavorability rating in his district. Republican challenger John J. Loughlin II, a veteran state lawmaker, entered the race yesterday.
Loughlin said Kennedy is out of touch with Rhode Island voters. We cant afford it anymore, he added.
A Kennedy spokesman declined to comment.

Patrick’s dad was a joke - he just wouldn’t drop dead and hung on to office way past his due date. Even Dems breathed a sigh of relief when he finaly expired (thinking he would be replaced by a more able body). Teddy has proved conclusively that the US is much better off with him dead.

Patrick Kennedy is a pampered boy who is completely aware that were he not a Kennedy, he would have a hrd time holding a minimum-wage job at McDonald's. From the subsequent lack of self-esteem, he copies the "trash talking" crap that he simply wouldn't do were he, again, not a protected little boy. He has never wanted, has never achieved, has never been liked for anything other than his last name.
Of course he sees Brown as a joke, that's how he sees anyone who isn't from his protected, useless class.

perhaps a sense of entitlement is giving Kennedy too big an ego.

The only thing I didn’t like about the Brown swearing in was that he was forced to stand next to J Fn Kerry the entire time. Hope he went home and took a shower.

I think it was a great response. Very diplomatic. Definition of diplomatic = ability to tell someone to go to hell and they say thank you, I am sorry I was such a jerk.

the real joke is on us because there is still a drunken Kennedy driving around the streets pretending his s&*& doesnt stink.

Brown's response to the impertinent Kennedy comment I would have recommended: "Oh, I'm sure it was just the liquor talking."
And a sly wink right after the comment.

Patches Kennedy to Brown: "Do you know who I am?"
Brown to Kennedy: "No. I know who your two dead uncles were which is the only reason you are in office, but I don't know you at all. And being on a first name basis with the staffs at various drug rehab facilities is not much of an accomplishment."

We ran out of real Kennedys in 1968.
