CHICAGO Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn says he expects Scott Lee Cohen ultimately will have to step down as the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor over charges that he once abused his girlfriend.
Quinn called Thursday for Cohen to answer all questions about his 2005 arrest for domestic battery. But Quinn says he thinks Cohen will end up dropping out of the race.

ok one of his home state or perhaps his adoptive state
as for Kirk yeah i heard he is a RINO with a capital R biggest thing that bugs me about him is pro-gun control.
still i would love to see the BIG Os seat go to him
I am grieving over the Kirk nomination but have to accept it for now, I guess. But the Dems are in panic mode here. And, my goodness, it feels good. Now, if only Brady can stay on top...
Pat Quinn is behind him 1000%.
Same as Thomas Eagleton.
Most definitely. Plus I'm tired of hearing about 'Obama's seat' by the MSM.
That seat was Peter Fitzgerald's, a conservative Republican. And he would have cruised to reelection 'if' the IL GOP wasn't always undermining him. So he got fed up and decided not to run again.
Sounds like 1986 again when a LaRouche supporter won the Demo primary for lt. gov. I guess the official endorsed candidate took the race for granted and got out hustled by this other guy. He would not drop out so the candidate for gov., Adlai Stevenson III had to form his own independent ticket. Republicans won anyway.
This article says nothing about Cohen. What are his qualifications? Has he ever served in elective office?
I remember Fitzgerald and the fiasco that was the R primary thereafter.
i apologize for using the term Obama’s Seat by the way
WOW. Kenya has a state called Hawaii also!?. What are the odds of that?
Now 1986 was a really good time!
Unfortunately, we still need to keep the ‘rat out of the seat; one Dick is enough in Illinois.
High drama!
Mark Fairchild and Janet Hart, oh what fun!
And remember Mark Kirk served in the armed forces this guy is tough as nails on national security, whereas Alexi could careless all he has is his mantra that he "saved 600 jobs" yipee...
The GOP could not have asked for a better scenario for November. Quinn is damaged goods, having barely squeaked out a victory, hemorraging 30 pt lead from the devastating Harold Washington attack ad from Hynes. He will crawl into election day as it is. Now he has to find a new Lt. Gov running mate. Looks great for the GOP.
Yes someone called a talk show then and said they saw the name Fairchild on the ballot and thought it was the actress Morgan Fairchild, so they voted for him! LOL. I wonder who those dolts voted for in 2008....
The recount was fun, too.
Rubber-stamp the corrupt Combine’s liberal choice of Mark Kirk ? Just say “HELL, NO !” to that !
Go Eric Wallace !
Scott Lee Cohen’s next pawn shop ... Illinois.
WOO HOO!! Now if we can get combiner Dillard to concede, it's looking better and better for November. Brady/Plummer will make a terrific winning CONSERVATIVE team (probably the first truly conservative gubernatorial ticket in this state since 1960) and prove once and for all you don't "need to" run Obama suckups like Mark Kirk to "win" in Illinois.
As for the RAT sleeper cells we're stuck with on the ballot, Kirk and Topinka, we have plenty of time to prepare for a viable alternative to them in November. The little socialist weasel Kirk probably WANTS negative attention from the conservative base now that the primary's over, he can use it to go on TV and gloat how "independent" he is and "not beholden to George W. Bush Republicans" blah blah blah. Ignore the little slimeball for now and keep him starved for attention. But I can't see how any conservative can vote for sending another Jim Jeffords type Republican to the U.S. Senate.
I spoke with Senator Brady's son Will Brady on the phone today. He says the other campaigns top supporters have coalesed around Brady and there's been an outpouring of support from prominent Dan Proft, Adam Andrewjewski, and even Jim Ryan backers who have said Brady is the rightful nominee. Great news! But we can't count our chickens before they hatch.
Kinda like BHO saying we need to work together, after I shut the door in your face
