In an exclusive, Big Government has obtained a letter addressed by Nobel Prize Winner and anti-Communist hero Lech Walesa to the people of Illinois, endorsing Adam Andrzejewski, Republican candidate for Governor.
Mr. Walesa will be in Chicago this week to campaign for Mr. Andrzejewski. The primary election is Tuesday, February 2nd. The endorsement from Walesa may actually mean something to Illinois voters. Illinois is home not only to a large number of Polish-Americans, but a large number of voters from throughout Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
There is no clear frontrunner in the crowded field of candidates. Most of those in the race have deep ties to the Illinois Republican establishment, which isnt the best qualification in the current climate. In the closing days of the campaign, the race seems wide-open.
Big Government has also learned that several tea party organizations, both in Illinois and out of state, are mobilizing their members behind Andrzejewski. This could be one to watch next week.
Huh? Your posts are very confusing.
I'll use small words for you. And I'll keep it short so you don't chap your lips when reading it.
If you have a grudge against someone simply because they are from another country, regardless of whether they are anti-American or pro-American, that makes you a bigot. Blind hatred of those from elsewhere often manifests itself as racism as well. Indeed, Pollack jokes are considered racist.
The purpose of Free Republic is right there on the front page. It's about conservatism and returning America to her conservative roots.
If you think that excludes people from other countries then you are wrong.
Me? No problem at all.
I think you wanted to be posting to ansel12.
I gotta start drinking less at lunch. Or at least posting less....
I live in Northfield, IL, which is about five miles north of Chicago. Last Sun., I heard Andrzejewski interviewed, on a radio show. The host asked why he asked a foreign leader to endorse him. Andrzejewski said that Illinois has many Polish-Americans and that many of them will vote for him, if they know that Walesa endorsed him.
You must be stoned or something. You should ask a neighbor to look in on you.
I think that we figured that, how do you respond to that post?
"Saying that this time it is some other American voters horse being gored by a foreign leader, campaigning in our heartland, is not much of a defense.
By the way, this is a Republican primary, some conservatives in Illinois may also be wondering what the heck is going on in their primary, in the land of Lincoln.
Where do you think this will lead, do you think that you will still be defending this lack of sovereignty of American elections in 10 years, 15 years?"
Since when is a personal attack a valid response on Free Republic?
That is what mean by saying that something is wrong with you, read your posts to me, they are filled with bizarre, insulting, personal attacks.
Relax for a while and then go back through your posts to me and see if you don’t agree that you need to clear your head a little.
This is a fascinating development.
Recall what an inspiration our Constitutional freedom was for those in Poland who sought to be free of Communist influence.
It has not been an easy road for the Poles.
For those who came to the US several generations ago, the stories about why their ancestors left may be but a faint whisper.
For newcomers, they might not fully realize the jeopardy of the political climate in their new homeland.
Mr. Walesa could act as a very, very good reminder to old and new citizens alike.
You are an idiot. No one should want people from another country, regardless of their good intentions, to be campaigning in the US. If you start letting the “good” foreigners in to campaign then the bad will come as well. No foreigners, we are a sovereign nation and we don’t need people from other countries coming here and interfering. If you think that is racist then I feel sorry for you because if you believe that then you are truly ignorant and willing to let the USA turn into a slave nation, with us as the slaves.
Ranting against a foreigner simply because he's a foreigner is the very definition of xenophobic. I'm sorry if it bothers you that I've pointed out your personal lack of decency.
Is that clearer for you?
I think that this will cause more American candidates to seek support from foreign leaders. Some candidates, who seek votes, from Hispanics, will ask Mexican politicians to campaign for them. I didn’t defend what Andrzejewski did. I just told you what he said.
No it isn’t clear at all, all these personal attacks you are making are bizarre, you really need to try and focus on the topic rather than personally attacking freepers with some kind of hateful leftwing attack.
American elections for Americans, no world leaders need to be showing up on the campaign trail to push primary candidates in our sovereign nation.
Do you want to see Vicente Fox in South Carolina, mobilizing Hispanics, welding power over Republican primary choices, how about Hugo Chavez in certain Congressional districts, after he leaves office?
I agree, today some people are saying that they like Walesa, so where is the harm, (they don’t seem concerned about the other Republicans, supporting other candidates though), the left will love this new idea, their tribal communities will have another uniting trend to keep them from being assimilated, as foreign nations gain power to influence American elections to their own nation’s interests, and the voter’s homelands.
As our nation is colonized by Mexico, they will lead, but El Salvador, Nicaragua, Arab nations and China will be in the game too.
Not much for conservative America to look forward to.
I never heard of something like this happening before.
I’m a little surprised at the hostility towards Lech Walesa’s endorsement. I hardly call a letter of endorsement “campaigning” for Adam A. Nor do people seem to remember President Reagan supported Lech and the Polish people in their struggles against communism. Why should we kick if he supports our struggle against liberalism?
Then there is this thing called the First Amendment. He is free to support conservative candidates, just as Hugo Chavez supports Obama. He doesn’t cast any votes. He will only influence those who vote on ethnic lines. If he pushes a conservative candidate into the lead on that basis, I’ll take it.
Finally, remember the Polish general Kasamir Pulaski who fought for the US in the revolutionary war. There has been a long tradition of US - Polish good relations and I see this endorsement as a continuation of that.
Dan Proft has better temperament? How does this translate into effectiveness as a governor? What experience does he have compared to Adam? Who is currently leading in the polls?
Thanks.
Just how do make this assessment? Are you part of the Springfield power structure? Do you know either of these people personally?
