Just posted on another healthcare thread ...

Does anyone ever ask how many EXTRA deaths there will be BECAUSE of Obamacare? I'm not talking about abortions or even old people who might die three months or more earlier than they otherwise might have under our existing system. I'm talking about the great unwashed, not yet old, who won't be able to find a doctor, or at least an educated doctor, because it just won't be worth it to be a doctor. Doctors are just too "greedy," so maybe the government will try to make them slaves. It will be okay for the time being because most doctors are white. Slaves won't give the same sort of treatment if they give any treatment at all. Some will disappear. Congressmen will still get their treatment, sort of the way members of the Communist Party get treatment in Cuba, or maybe only if they are members of the Communist Party. But the rest of us will get "care" like in The Real Cuba. It won't be pretty.

The Robert Powell Center for Medical Ethics

The Reid Bill contains important elements that would greatly impact the ability of patients to receive unrationed medical care. These elements, combined with inadequate funding – a scheme of “robbing Peter to pay Paul” wherein half of the funding comes from cuts in Medicare spending, would result in rationing life-saving treatment for senior citizens.

Limiting Senior Citizens’ Right to Use Their Own Money to Save Their Own Lives

The Reid bill duplicates the House bill provision that would effectively allow federal bureaucrats at the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) to bar senior citizens from adding their own money, if they choose, to the government contribution in order to get private-fee-for-service Medicare Advantage (MA) plans less likely to ration life-saving treatment.
